It’s almost here, GHAP Badminton’s Easter Tournament 2026 is tomorrow Saturday, 18th April.

A quick reminder to our members and pay as you players who have already signed up, our Easter Tournament is being held at The Sugden Sport Centre, 114 Grosvenor Street, Manchester, M1 7HL from 10am - 4pm. A reminder that our usual session is cancelled tomorrow as we have the tournament.

*Important notice: Parking/road closures tomorrow*: due to the Manchester Marathon there are several road closures around the Sugden Centre and Oxford Road tomorrow; the Sugden car park is expected to be closed and public transport is likely to be affected, particularly along Oxford Road, so please allow extra time to arrive for a 10am start.

We’ll be using a handicap system so everyone has a chance at winning! Snacks will be provided on the day but everyone should plan to bring their own lunch/food/drink to see them through the day too - we no longer provide bottled water to reduce our plastic waste.

The tournament will then be followed at 7:45pm by an evening meal at The Wharf (6 Slate Wharf, M15 4ST) & for those party animals whose legs aren’t completely worn out from 6 hours of badminton, drinks in The Village afterwards.

Lastly, if you’ve signed up for the tournament and can no longer make it, please do contact us asap ahead of time on our Insta, Facebook or directly via a committee member to let us know. Similarly, any members or pay as you go players who haven’t already signed up but wish to be added to the reserve list in case of last minute cancellations, please get in touch.

Its been a busy few weeks for GHAP’s league players - as well as competing across 4 different local leagues, they have been out & about winning medals at a number of different tournaments.

Gold in Grade A of Northern C***s Spring Tournament: Filip Stepniak & Danny Eason (3rd Team)

Silver in GZD/MBT Tournament: Ben Chow & Heidi Shiu (2nd Team)

Silver in Grade A Northern C***s Spring Tournament: Karl Purvis (3rd Team)

Bronze in Mixed Doubles A of Bristol Swifts Cup: Tom Huggon & Sharon Mulholland (1st Team)

The GHAP Easter Tournament takes place in just over a weeks time and as usual, we’ll be holding our annual awards ceremony ✨ Nominations are now open, make yours before Friday 17th for yours to be counted… winners will be revealed at the tournament! 🏆 It’s not too late to sign up to the big day, just speak to a committee member at the next session to sign up, it’s just £25! 🏸

It’s business as usual at GHAP Badminton this Saturday (4th April) 🏸 We’ll see you at the usual time of 10am til 1pm at Trinity Sports Centre ✨

There will be an additional social session tomorrow (Monday 9th March) at Manchester Communication Academy 🏸 £1.50 for plastics / £3.00 for feathers. ✨

Join us for our March GHAP social 🏸 We’ll be meeting at Bold Street Coffee on Oxford Road immediately after the 10-1 session. ✨ This is a great opportunity to meet with other players at the club and get to know each other in a more relaxed environment, we can’t wait to see you there! ☺️

GHAP Badminton are pleased to announce our 2026 Easter Badminton Tournament at The Sugden Sport Centre, 114 Grosvenor Street, Manchester, M1 7HL on Saturday 18th April from 10am-4pm.

This will then be followed by an optional evening meal at The Wharf, 6 Slate Wharf, Castlefield, M15 4ST from 7.45pm. 🍽️

We’re now taking entries for our Easter tournament for our members and pay as you go players on a first come first serve basis.

All abilities are welcome, we’ll be using a handicap system so everyone has a chance at winning and there’s medals and raffle prizes to be won! Bottled water and snacks will be provided on the day (first come first serve) but everyone should plan to bring their own lunch/food/drink to see them through the day too.

Entry for the tournament is £25 per person, card payments to reserve a space will be being taken at our social badminton sessions starting this Saturday (28th February) onwards. The evening meal will be an additional £10 deposit.

If you’d like to attend the tournament, dinner or both please let us know at a social badminton session and pay any monies due.
