The Bingham Cup is the world championship of gay rugby teams and is the largest men’s 15-aside rugby union tournament in the sporting calendar outside of the IRB Rugby World Cup.
The biennial tournament is named gay rugby player Mark Bingham who died on United Airlines Flight 93 on the 11th September. Manchester 2012 will be the sixth Bingham Cup.
Manchester 2012 will offer an outstanding rugby experience. The tournament will feature top quality referees led by Nigel Owens and include an opening ceremony at Manchester’s historic town hall and a closing event featuring Manchester 2012 ambassador and former British and Irish Lions captain Gareth Thomas.
