Hi 👋 Im Ciara! I own and run Ciara Hendrickson Coaching, which I started in 2020 to fulfill a lifelong dream of being my own boss.

"C-suite" is a term that has terrified me for quite some time, I'll be honest.

And then last week in a coaching session, I created my very own "C-suite"

I was bale to do this because I finally let go of who I ought to be as a coach (or who my ideal client should be) and tapped 110% into who I am as a coach, who I am here to serve and how I am going to do that (my unique coaching style).

When you show up authentically, there's no one but the old version of you to stop you.

"You should not coach to your detriment"

This was said at the beginning of my most recent ICF certification training & now I ca't unhear it.

Now, I do think that this can mean, it is adviseable not to coach simple for the sake of coaching or to get money. But I also think it can speak to who you choose as your clients.

I don't work with everyone.

It's easy for new coaches to say YES to every client that walks through their door because they think they have to, but I encourage my clients (new coaches) to get clear on who they want to work with & then be courageous to say no & yes as needed.

It can be a scary ride, but well worth it.

Today I got asked 'Do you also coach non-coaches?' I smiled.

The short answer: Yes of course!

The long answer:

As an ICF certified coach, I am qualified to coach anyone. The skills of a great coach can be applied to any client on any subject matter.

Do I love working with new coaches? YES!

The most common topics include... confidence, imposter syndrome, fear of failure, fear of success, work/life balance, growth mindsets, and more!

To me, all of these subjects can be brought to coaching by anyone- a CEO or a SAHM, someone in the middle of a transition or just about to enter a time of adjustment, a client who is dealing with circumstances outside their control or a client who has a tough decision to make.

Coaching is what you make of it.

You, the client, is in the driver's seat the whole time. As your coach, I'm along for the ride.

Things I may do (let's roll with this driving analogy, shall we?)...
- read the map back to you (this is a map you designed)
- point out things I notice/observe as we drive
- draw your attention to us if we veer 'off course', and ask if is our new route or if we are indeed off course
- offer a tool (which you are free to use or not) to help you
- checkin with you along the way: how are you finding everything?
- keep checking that the map I'm reading is indeed the most up-to-date version.

Coaching is intimate. It is powerful. It unlocks your force from within.

Working with a coach who you match well with is important. This means good rapport, feeling safe, trusting your coach, feeling comfortable being yourself in their presence. Good rapport is crucial to a successful coaching journey, but doesn't guarantee it!

My Do's + Don'ts for new coaches in 2024; but honestly, this is for anyone new to business.

I spent my first more than year of business just following along.

I hired business coaches because I thought I should, but I didn't invest into my own journey. I hired a VA instead of learning more about my clients. I paid for a year of Zoom Pro before reseaching different options.

In all of these situations, I let what I thought I should do & the 'norm' in the coaching industry guide me rather than leaning into me (aka my business), my business needs, my business goals & what fit those best.

Straight talk: My number 1 DO advice for new coaches is to get to know YOU (aka your business) know your needs, wants, desires, goals, dreams, everything; nothing is off limits!

From here, this place of knowledge, comes your power.

It's from here that you can make informed decisions about your business (and your life).

Is it worth it? Yes!

Will it take time, energy & probably money? Yep, to that too.
