Get ready, Swordfish — Club Champs is back, and this year it’s bigger, brighter, and splashier than ever. And yes… we’ve added a 200m Freestyle!

Whether your swimmer is new to competing or already chasing PBs, this is their moment. If they can swim 25m, they can take part — and we’d love to see every lane full of Swordfish pride.

Thursday 2nd or 9th July — Melksham Campus

This week, we’re shining an extra‑bright spotlight on the incredible volunteers who keep Melksham Swordfish swimming strong. Our club simply wouldn’t be the same without the dedication, kindness, and hard work you bring to every session and every event.

🚪 Door Register Volunteers Needed – Two Slots Still Uncovered
A huge thank you to everyone who has already helped with the Door Register rota. We know it’s a small job, but it’s one that keeps our sessions running safely and smoothly every single week.

Despite several requests, we still have two outstanding slots that urgently need covering:

Thursday 18th June – 6pm

Thursday 2nd July – 6pm

Our Door Rota admin has already reached out, but we haven’t had anyone step forward yet. If you can spare just 20–30 minutes at the start of a session, it would make a massive difference to the club and take the pressure off our small volunteer team.

If you’re able to cover either date, please let us know as soon as possible.
Your support really does keep the club running.

🌟 Welcome to Our New Volunteers – Lissie & Sean! 🌟

We’re delighted to introduce Lissie and Sean, two fantastic parents from our club who have stepped forward to support our swimmers on poolside. They are already helping at both our Tuesday and Thursday sessions, bringing great energy, encouragement, and an extra pair of hands where it really counts.

We’re also thrilled to share that they are booked onto the Swim England Level 1 Coaching Course later this year — a brilliant step that will help strengthen our teaching team even further.

Clubs like ours simply couldn’t run without amazing volunteers like them. Every person who gives their time helps create a safe, supportive, and fun environment for our swimmers to grow and thrive.

If you are interested in getting involved — whether it’s on poolside, helping at events, or supporting behind the scenes — please don’t hesitate to reach out. Even a small amount of time makes a huge difference. 💙

🏊‍♂️ MASC Supporting Corsham’s Splash ‘n’ Dash! 🏊‍♀️
We’re excited to announce that Melksham ASC will be supporting Corsham ASC Splash ‘n’ Dash Open Meet at Springfield Leisure Centre on Sunday 28th June 2026 (ONE DAY ONLY).

📅 Event Details
Age Groups: 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15 & Over
(Age as of 28th June 2026)

Events: 50m & 100m of all strokes

Cost: £7.00 per event

Please make sure you read the meet pack in the email you've been sent, especially the ‘No Faster Than’ times. (Also available on www.melkshamswordfish.org.uk)

The deadline in the Corsham meet pack is not the same as ours. We need time to consolidate all MASC entries, chase missing details, and upload everything to the meet software.

🐾 Supporting Our Own: Oliver’s Food4Fido Fundraiser! 🌍

Many of you will know Oliver Hancock — not just as one of our Swordfish swimmers, but also as a brilliant young volunteer who gives so much to our club.

Oliver is now taking on an incredible challenge: a life‑changing expedition to Borneo in 2027 with Camps International, a global social enterprise that delivers ethical, sustainable student travel. Their programmes focus on real-world impact, connecting young people with communities, conservation projects, and environmental initiatives that make a genuine difference.

To help fund his journey, Oliver has launched his very own dog treat business: Food4Fido 🐶💛
Every purchase supports his fundraising and brings him one step closer to contributing to meaningful projects overseas — from community development to wildlife conservation.

Just a quick update to confirm that all MASC sessions on Thursday 9th April 2026 will be running as normal.

A massive shout‑out to Dave, who’s been flying the Swordfish flag brilliantly on the Masters circuit!

Recently at the Derby ASA Masters Open (Long Course) he stormed to:
🥈 Silver – 50m Backstroke
🥈 Silver – 100m Backstroke

And he’s not slowing down…
This weekend he competed at the Cornwall County Open Championships in Bodmin and delivered an incredible medal haul:

🥇 Gold – 100m Backstroke
🥇 Gold – 50m Butterfly
🥉 Bronze – 50m Backstroke
🥉 Bronze – 50m Breaststroke
