🟠 Full-time: Kader 5-1 Thornaby πŸ”΅

The girls returned to action against Thornaby this morning and delivered an excellent performance.

Thornaby always provide us with a good game and today was the same. We started strong, settling the game down and trying to play some good football. We grabbed an opener when Lilly swung a ball in from the right hand side to Holly, who still had some work to do before finding the back of the net.

Our control on the game continued, the midfield working really well together individually and as a unit, with some solid defending not allowing Thornaby any clear chances.

Holly grabbed a second after some great work from Rose in midfield found Holly with a chance at goal where she made no mistake again. Holly then completed a first half hat-trick after Nancy found her, capping off an excellent first half performance.

Going into the second half we maintained control of the game, but looked to extend our lead.

Darcie managed to get a goal when she brilliantly intercepted an mis hit goal kick, taking the ball down and smashing the ball in from distance.

Thornaby did grab a goal back from a well struck free kick. With Evie out injured a few girls took turns filling in today, a big thank you to all of them.

Our fifth and final goal came from Darcie again who latched onto a loose ball, calmly taking the ball around the keeper and slotting into an empty net.

Overall, it was a good run out today with some positives to take. Credit to Thornaby who never gave up they always provide a good opponent.

Evelyn Bliss πŸ‘πŸ§‘

Ev was unplayable today. She controlled proceedings throughout and worked brilliantly alongside Nancy and Rose. Her composure and quality on the ball made her a joy to watch and she was unlucky not to grab a few assists with her quality passing. A top shift today, well done Ev! πŸ’ͺ

Massive well done to our own Holly Shields who scored a hat-trick tonight in a 3-3 draw for Acklam Grange at Rockliffe Hall, as well as scoring her penalty in the shootout allowing her side to go on and win the cup! πŸ†

Big congratulations to the girls and Holly keeping up her red hot form! πŸ‘πŸ§‘

🟣 Full-time: Marske 0-7 Kader 🟠

The girls travelled to Marske for a friendly today, with a top team performance sealing a really good victory.

We started the stronger team, grabbing our opener when Lilly played a superb ball across to Holly who slid and knocked the ball home. From there, we began to really control the game.

Marske looked to grab an equaliser but some really good defending resulted in a corner, from which Evie made a great reaction save down to her near post, allowing her to send Holly through on goal from her kick, where she made no mistake in doubling our lead with a clever lob of the keeper.

We continued to defend well when met with some quick players from Marske. Nancy played a big part in our third, when she took a throw in which looked to be heading into the box, but a deflection off a Marske defender sent the ball into the net for an own goal!

Marske where awarded a penalty not long after, but fortunately they sent the ball over the bar.

Our final goal in the first half was another beauty when Lilly took a corner, managing to find the bottom far corner directly!

At half time, we wanted to calm our passing down, and overall take more control of the play.

In the second half we had more defending to do at times, but some really brave goalkeeping from Evie and good individual runs at the back kept Marske at bay.

Holly bagged her hattrick not long after, after a nice team move. Before some great work from Nancy allowed Crystal to go through on goal where she rifled the ball into the net with an excellent finish.

Our 7th and final goal came when Sav put some really good work down the channel resulted in Holly finding the ball at her feet, where she finished the ball with perfect accuracy finding the far post and leaving the keeper no chance.

The match ended with top performances from everyone on the pitch. Another really good result with lots of positives to take moving forward! Thank you and well done to Marske as well for hosting today’s contest. 🀝

πŸ† Player(s) of the match: πŸ†

Nancy & Holly πŸ‘πŸ§‘

We couldn’t decide between both girls for player of the match today, so we decided to go with a joint award as both girls deserve some recognition.

Nancys constant running in the middle was top, she covered every blade of grass with some brilliant skill on show and countless excellent through balls. πŸ’ͺ

Holly’s finishing was clinical throughout. Every goal was fantastic in its own right. Some of her first touches deserve a mention as well, killed the ball dead multiple times from Evie’s goal kicks, on top form today and 4 brilliant goals. πŸ”₯

Massive well done to both girls! πŸ‘Œ

πŸ”΄ Full-time: Trimdon 1-3 Kader 🟠

After many postponements, the girls finally played their final league match vs Trimdon. Playing in some awful conditions they did fantastic.

We started the game the stronger of the two sides. We looked to establish control in the middle, with some very solid defending not allowing Trimdon to have much joy.

Some great work from Darcie out wide caused Trimdon problems and we felt an opener was coming. After some continued good work in the midfield, Nancy found Holly with a great through ball, allowing her to grab our opener.

As the half continued, we kept control and continued to create chances but credit to the Trimdon goalkeeper who made some good saves.

We went into half time 1-0 ahead. We spoke about trying to win those second balls and being more composed on the ball.

Trimdon came flying out the blocks in the first half and after some good pressure, they equalised after a mix up in the box.

Our response was excellent however, our midfield really grabbed the game by the neck and allowed us to regain control. Darcie continued her red hot form when she wriggled in and out of the Trimdon defence and found the bottom corner to recover our lead.

Our third came when Holly cleverly read a misplaced goal kick, allowing her to play Darcie through on goal who this time finished with her left.

Ev really grew into herself in the second half, really controlling the game with some unbelievable balls through the defence. She was unlucky not to get an assist or two with the balls she was playing through.

The game ended 3-1 with a really good performance from all the girls, ending the league campaign on a good note.

A special mention to Evie in goal, who returned to action after some time away with a nasty ankle injury. She made some excellent saves throughout and was back to her very high levels, an overall really confident performance. Well done Evie! ❀️🧀

Evelyn Bliss πŸ‘πŸ§‘

A tough one to award today, but Ev’s second half was head and shoulders above. Her through balls over and through the defence was next level, like a young (and more ginger) Kevin De Bruyne. She didn’t stop running today, overall an excellent performance. Top stuff Ev! πŸ’ͺ

πŸ”΅ Full-time: Thornaby 2-6 Kader 🟠

After a few weeks without any football, the girls were back in action against Thornaby today. Unfortunately, goalkeeper Evie missed today with an injury and with a few more girls missing, we were down to the bare 11 with no keeper.

Despite that, the girls did fantastic. Nevaeh very kindly offered to play in goal for the first half. We opened the scoring minutes in when Darcie found the corner of the net brilliantly. Thornaby responded quickly and grabbed the equaliser after a mix up at the back. The quick start continued, with Darcie grabbing a second after some really tidy football.

Thornaby equalised again after a corner ball wasn’t dealt with. Crystal caused all sorts of the problems down the left side of the pitch. This was on show when she picked the ball up deep in our half, carrying the ball past 4 or 5 players before playing in Halle, who calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to restore our lead. Darcie came agonisingly close to a hattrick when she smashed one off the bar, and some brilliant balls from Nancy and Rose in the middle proved just too much for our attack to reach at time.

We went into half time 3-2 up, and we spoke about being more composed on the ball. Our ring rust showed in the first half and we wanted to have more control in the second. Olivia stepped up to do a shift in goal and we were away.

Our second half performance was a much more confident showing. After hitting the post the first time after rounding the keeper, Holly grabbed a much deserved goal after some nice link up play with Lilly.

Darcie sealed her hat trick after running onto a through ball from Nancy, before adding a fourth to her tally to seal the win.

Overall, it was a really positive result today after a while without any football. There were some top performances throughout, with special mention to Ruby and Crystal who were excellent. Well done everyone and thank you to Thornaby for a great game. πŸ‘

πŸ† Player of the match: πŸ†

Darcie Saunders πŸ‘πŸ§‘

Her goal tally alone made the player of the match choice pretty simple today. Darcie’s finishing was top notch - always finding the corners and she was unlucky not to get another few. Top stuff today Darcie, well done! πŸ’ͺ
