Match report 25/10/25

The lads travelled to Richmond for an early kick off in league action against a physical well organised Richmond town reserves

The first half passed pretty quickly without much action and the wind causing both teams problems, neither keeper having to do much work.

The 2nd half kicked off and after a change at HT by manager chris the lads soon got a grip of the game and started finding the ever dangerous Spencer down the right and the stand out player Cal down the left

After 2 awful challenges which both should of seen red and 2 stone wall penalties all waved away by the referee, this seemed to spur the lads on and find another gear which they did on the 75th min mark when Bradley Hides played a long ball forward which the Richmond defence struggled to deal with, Matty fleming came away with the ball after great pressure, he then squared the ball across the box to the arriving Cal who delightfully finished into the bottom right corner..

The lads defended unbelievably well the last 2mins of the game, throwing there bodies on the line and clearing 2 certain goals of the line seeing the game out and claim the 3pts on a cold windy day in Richmond 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

MOTM
Goes to Callum Petegou who caused problems whenever he got the ball up and down the left side, especially in the 2nd half torchering the Richmond RB repeatedly and grabbing his well earned and deserved goal

After a very slow start to the season that's 8 games undeafted for the Lads in all competitions winning 7 and drawing 1 last week against Whitby fishermens..

Next up sees the banks in action against Redcar athletic reserves in 3rd cup action

Whinney banks 3 Redcar athletic u23s 1

The lads started of like an house on fire quickly getting a grip of the game and were soonly rewarded with a great through ball over the top by Brad Hides through to matty Fleming who finished off with a great finish..

The lads carried on dominating and soon grabbed a deserved 2nd goal
After great build up in the midfield the ball was played out wide to big cal who whipped a great ball to the back post to Spencer Hawkins who controlled with his face and finished it off at the keepers near post

The lads grabbed the 3rd goal through some great linkup play in our own half through the Hawkins brothers, which seen Spencer dance through 5 Redcar players and whip a wicked weak foot rasper straight into the top left corner

HT 3-0
A very dominant half which could off seen the banks go in easily 6 or 7 up

The 2nd half kicked off with Whinney banks dominating the possession again but with not many chances created due a much better Redcar team

Redcar had a good spell of 15mins or so which seen them grab a goal
In that 15mins Ben Lymer pulled off so some great saves keeping Redcar down to 1

The game fizzled out with not much action in the last quarter or so.

That's 6 wins on the bounce for the banks and we look forward to trying to make it 7 against a Whitby fishermens team next week at home

MOTM today as voted by the lads was
Ben lymer who pulled of numerous great saves in the 2nd half to keep the 3pts in TS5

WHINNEY BANKS 6 KADER DEVELOPMENT 2

Once again the lads started slowly in the TS5 Derby going 1-0 down inside the first 10mins

This seemed to kick the lads into gear and they duly obliged with a matty Fleming lob with his weak foot

The 2nd came from Brad hides who rifled a 25yard freekick into the roof of the net
The 3rd and 4th followed shortly after with matty Fleming grabbing both to secure his 2nd hattrick of the season

It would of been 5 right on the stroke of half time if it wasn't for kaders RB pulling off a great save on the line which the referee claimed to have not seen 🤔

The 2nd half started how the 1st ended in the banks dominating allover the pitch and for quite a few missed chances the lads could of easily been out of sight

The ever dangerous Spencer Hawkins grabbed the 5th
Kader did grab a 2nd goal against the run of play after the ball was 2yards out of play which the referee claimed to off not seen also

Arguably the goal of the season arrived when keiran hutt decided to take half the kader team on and pull of a great strike into the far corner from the edge of the box giving the keeper no chance👌

Massive 3pts for the banks in the local Derby

MOTM⭐️
Matty Fleming
A constant threat on and off the ball all through the game and duly grabbing his 3 goals

Good to luck kader development for the rest of the season

Next up on 6/9/25 We are in action against Askrigg and Bainbridge united in the North riding county Cup

Match report 23/8/25

Whinney Banks 2 St Mary's 0

The banks started slow for the first 15mins and could of been 1 or 2 down but a superb save from Ben in goal tipping a 30yard rasper on to the bar and a good chance squanded by there no 9 kept the scores level

Whinney banks grew into the game and after a good 10mins of being on top were duly rewarded with a Lennon Williams goal
Who slotted his first goal for the club from 20yards out after a great save by the marys keeper

The lads didnt stop there and carried on creating chances with Spencer Hawkins running riot down the right wing and Alan and Bradley dominating the midfield ,But for a few qaulity saves from the marys keeper keeping the scoreline down.

We struck again just before HT through matty Fleming toe poking a 1 on 1 past the keeper for it to hit the post and trickle across the line and hit the other post and go in

2-0 HT

The 2nd half flew by and the full team was solid and balanced keeping Marys from creating any clearcut chances and there wasn't much to report apart from a few very good saves from the marys keeper again who I must say was fantastic today and easily the opposition MOTM

The lads seen out the game to claim the 3pts

MOTM ⭐️- Callum Conroy
Stand in captain for the day, solid as a rock at the back, a great voice all day long and ushered the team when needed.

Donkey of the day 🫏 - Ben Lymer

After coming for a cross and missing it completely going straight through his hands smashing himself straight in the face 🤣🤣

Credit to the Mary's lads for coming back to the St Francis club for a few drinks and a 10/10 curry put on by the staff👌

Good luck for the rest of the season boys

Next Saturday we play
Kader development away in what will be hopefully a good derby game
