Grassroots football doesn’t survive on money — it survives on people ⚽🙌

Week in, week out, there are coaches turning up in all weathers 🌧️❄️☀️, giving up their evenings, their weekends, and time with their families, all for absolutely nothing in return. No wages, no bonuses, no spotlight — just a genuine love for the game and a desire to help kids develop, grow in confidence, and enjoy their football 💙

What often gets forgotten is that these coaches are volunteers. They’re not professional managers. They’re not being paid to take pressure, criticism, or constant judgement from the sidelines. Yet they still show up, plan sessions, support players, manage expectations, and do their best for every single child 👏

It’s easy from the touchline to see things one way in the heat of the moment. But without these volunteers, there simply is no grassroots football — no training, no matches, no opportunities for kids to play the game they love ⚽

A bit more respect, a bit more understanding, and a bit more appreciation would go a long way 🙏

A massive thank you to all of our CNJFC coaches and volunteers 💙⚽ — your time, effort, and commitment to every player and every team does not go unnoticed. The club simply wouldn’t function without you.

⚽ Sam – Sam has been with the team for 2 years. Unfortunately, injury has affected most of his season and he hasn’t been able to play as much as he would have liked. Sadly, this is still causing issues and football isn’t in the mix for him at the moment. We wish Sam a speedy recovery and hope to see him back doing what he loves soon.

⚽ Isaac G – Isaac joined the team this season but has been training with us for around 18 months. Isaac was never afraid to get stuck in for the team and put a challenge in when needed. He is now moving onto another team in a higher division. Well done Isaac and best of luck for the future.

⚽ Isaac W – Joining us this season as our sub goalkeeper, Isaac definitely made himself heard whenever he stepped onto the pitch! Isaac is now moving to another team in a higher division as their main goalkeeper. We wish you all the best Isaac.

⚽ Jack S – Jack has been with us for 2 seasons and has always been willing to play wherever needed across many different positions. Jack is also moving onto another team in a higher division. Good luck Jack.

⚽ Will – Will has spent the last 2 seasons with us playing a year up and has been a huge part of the squad. Whether playing up front, at the back or in midfield, he always gave everything for the team. He is now moving back into his own age group with a Division 2 side. Thank you for all your hard work and commitment Will we wish you the best of luck.

⚽ Matthew – Our current captain and goalkeeper has also spent the last 2 seasons with us playing a year up. Matthew has been outstanding for the club and now moves onto a Division 2 side within his own age group. Thank you for your leadership, commitment and performances over the last few years, we wish you the best of luck.

🚨 GOALKEEPER WANTED 🚨

Coulby Newham U16 are looking for a committed and talented goalkeeper to join our squad for the 2026/27 season. Year 10 or 11 from September 2026

Our current keeper Matthew has been outstanding for us over the last 2 seasons, stepping up and playing a year above his age group. He has now secured himself a place with a Division 2 U15 side for the new season — a fantastic opportunity for him and thoroughly deserved 👏⚽

With Matthew moving on, we are now searching for a new Number 1 to become our main goalkeeper.

✅ Mid-level experience preferred
✅ Ideally played within a team environment before
✅ Committed attitude and willingness to improve
✅ Great opportunity to join a strong, supportive squad

This is a fantastic chance for a keeper looking for regular football, development, and to be part of a brilliant group of lads and coaches heading into U16 football.

Training takes place twice weekly and we are building strongly for the new season 💪

Being vocal doesn't automatically make someone a leader. When selecting a captain, coaches look beyond the noise and focus on players who consistently lead by example.

2️⃣ Earns Respect – Respected by teammates and coaches — and returns that respect in everything they do.
3️⃣ Plays with Passion – Brings energy, commitment, and a genuine love for the game every time they step onto the field.
4️⃣ Listens and Learns – Follows instructions and stays coachable, even under pressure.
5️⃣ Communicates Effectively – Knows when to speak, what to say, and just as importantly — when to listen.

A true captain inspires, includes, and leads — not just with words, but with actions.
