Madrid boys fall at the last hurdle against Bishop Aukland in a brilliant final. Madrid took the lead within the first ten minutes from a fantastic solo goal from Arlo but Bishop were ahead at halftime 3 goals to 1. It wasn’t the easiest of pitches to play on but both teams fought hard to the very end. Full-time score line 4-1 to Bishop. Bishop were relentless off the ball & moved the ball quickly and they thoroughly deserved the win. Congratulations BA.
We are very proud of the Madrid boys getting to the final out of 140 teams.

Madrid took on Riverside Milan at the weekend in the semi final of the cup. Both teams have never met before so it was exciting to play against a new side. Riverside came into this game as league winners of their division as well as being unbeaten.
It came as no surprise that Riverside came out of the blocks with confidence and hard work as they started the game on top. But after the first 10 minutes Madrid showed their class; showing high level skill and precision with their passing and shooting. It was a solid performance all round where all players made a big impact within the game;
Seb showing good signs with his work rate off the ball, Billy playing some excellent first time passing, Alfie showing some excellent skill and movement on the ball and finally Seth keeping a clean sheet.
Player of the match from the opposition coach and our own coaches goes to Arlo. He was excellent all game; strong in 1v1 situations and released the ball at the right times, which made it very difficult for the opposing team to defend against.
Madrid now take on Bishop Aukland in the final at Rockliffe on the 17th May. It should be a cracker. Really proud of our boys who have made it this far out of 120 teams.
A huge congratulations to the Riverside boys who have made it this far into the competition - good luck next season.

Last league game of the season for Madrid and this time it was against league leaders Brazil. This was always going to be a tough fixture - both teams filled with highly talented players. This game lived up to its expectations. Madrid were on it from the very first minute and were dominant across the first half. However, with a team like Brazil’s you just can’t switch off as they can hurt you at any point. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what they did and scored quickly into the second half. From this point on Brazil piled on the pressure but Madrid still had really good opportunities to increase their lead. Madrid looked to get all the points but a last minute penalty meant each team earned a point each - a fair result!
Player of the match was a real tough one this week. Madrid had the bare 5 so they all worked incredibly hard. Zak again played at the back making it difficult for the opposition, Arlo linked up really well with his teammates & Seb making good decisions on the ball, but as coaches we couldn’t just choose one this week😂 Arthur was amazing on the ball and worked incredibly hard for his team and was a handful for the opposition and Seth made some brilliant saves to keep us in the game and for those reasons they were both player of the match.
Well done Arthur and Seth 👏👏👏

A few of the Madrid boys travelled down to London this weekend to take on West Ham. Another brilliant experience for the kids.

Madrid took on a fantastic Marton side during the week. We’ve had some cracking games over the past 2 years and I would say that they are the most improved side which we have come across.
Marton started the game on fire and scored 3 on the bounce within the first 5 minutes. Marton could have made it more if it wasn’t for the cross bar, but Madrid found their way and played some excellent football and got themselves back into the game.
Second half Madrid were excellent; playing some brilliant one touch passing and scoring some great team goals. Madrid showed resilience and belief in that second half and I’m sure they have learnt a lot from it.
Player of the match from the opponents coach: Arlo.

Madrid would like to wish all the very best to ex Madrid player Teddie and his teammates Sam and Diamond who will leave grassroots football to play for MFC - good luck boys UTB!

Madrid took on a rapidly improving Riverside PSG team last night in the quarter final of the league cup. Some of the passing and decision making from the Madrid boys was outstanding and was a pleasure to watch. Zak was on fire in the first half, Arlo making some good moves through the middle of the pitch, Alfie linking up really well up top, Billy battling up and down the pitch and Seth pulling off two worldies in goal. It was a proper team performance 👏👏👏

The Madrid boys faced their strongest opponents to date on Sunday. A team who were class on the ball and off the ball too. It was a great experience for our boys. Bishop worked incredibly hard off the ball and their decision making was decisive. Seth made some excellent saves and was kept busy throughout the match. Madrid had their chances too but the keeper proved too good.
