Northop Hall Vets Vs Bowden Vets

Today saw this season’s return match for the Port and Pie Trophy in memory of Club Chairman Glyn Davies between Northop Hall Vets and Bowden Vets at Bowden Hockey Club.

After an extensive warm up and team talk by Skipper and Welsh Veteran Barry Dunn, Northop quickly got into their groove and soon opened the scoring from good work down the right to put the ball in front of goal for Rob Mason to thrash in from close range.
A quick equaliser from Bowden stirred on Hall who replied with two further excellent strikes from Rob Mason and saw a 3-1 lead at half time.
The second half continued in much the same manner as the first with Hall being the dominant team, pressing and stifling their star player when he had the ball. Another goal from Rob Mason and a well taken from Dave Chacksfield took Halls talley to 5 with a token 2nd for Bowden ending the match with a well deserved 5-2 win for Hall.

Half time refreshments of wine with hot cross buns and glorious sunshine followed by after match food and catch-up’s between the two teams ended a pleasant day 😎🏑
Glyn would have been proud of us 💙😊
