After a busy month of pre-season friendlies and League Cup action, the Yellows are ready to get their 2026/27 league campaign underway 💪

We kick things off on Wednesday evening as we welcome Luncarty 2011 to Riverview Park.

Luncarty are familiar opponents, with two entertaining encounters between the sides last season — a 2-2 draw away from home, before the Yellows claimed a 4-2 victory in the return fixture.

Ferry Athletic 1–0 Monifieth Athletic Yellows

The boys went toe to toe with their league 1 opponents earlier today, and were desperately unlucky not to take something from the match 💪

The final match in our league cup section was finely balanced throughout, with a 75th-minute penalty in our opponents favour ultimately proving to be the difference between the sides.

Despite the result, there was massive encouragement to take from the performance. In difficult conditions, with heavy rain at times the boys gave everything right until the final whistle and can take a huge amount of confidence from today’s performance.

Todays coaches Man of the Match award goes to our No.1, Dalaigh! 👏💛

A brilliant performance from Dalaigh, who was absolutely solid throughout, dealing superbly with everything the opposition threw at him (and the difficult weather conditions!)
He came so close to saving the penalty too,guessing the right way but unfortunately just couldn’t keep it out.

Well done Dalaigh! 👏💛

Heads held high today boys, and we move on to our first league fixture of the season on Wednesday evening...

Monifieth Athletic Yellows 1–3 Montrose Youth

Defeat tonight, but plenty to be encouraged about after a strong performance from the boys against tier 1 opposition. 👏

Montrose took the lead in the 21st minute with a great strike, but the boys responded brilliantly, with Max finishing a great move in the 34th minute to level things up.

Montrose regained the lead just before half-time, but with the Yellows pushing hard for an equaliser a late goal in the 80th minute sealed the 3 points for Montrose and put a bit of gloss on the scoreline.

The result might not have gone our way, but the performance certainly gives us plenty of positives to take forward. Against a good side, the boys showed plenty of fight, character and quality — and on another night, they could easily have taken something from the game. 💪

The boys bounced back from last week’s defeat in the best possible fashion with a resounding 7–0 victory over Douglas Youth 👏🔥

The Yellows set a strong tempo from the off, taking the lead within the opening couple of minutes and never letting the intensity drop. Some attractive attacking football followed, with the boys creating plenty of chances throughout, At the other end, a strong defensive display ensured a well-deserved clean sheet. 💛

First up on Saturday evening many of the boys will be split between opposite ends of Tannadice for the Dundee Derby. 🔵🟠

Then just over 12 hours of celebrating, hiding, arguing, gloating, sulking, claiming they were robbed, blaming the ref, blaming VAR, blaming Goodwin, blaming Pressley, pretending they never cared about the result in the first place, later………..

……..normal service resumes as the Yellows are back in action in the League Cup.

Monifieth Athletic Yellows 2011s are looking for a volunteer coach to join our existing coaching team!

Our Team Manager is already in place, and the boys are about to embark on a new campaign in the U/16s DDYFA Sunday league, we’re looking for someone to join our team who is passionate about youth football and keen to get involved, make a positive impact on young lives and develop their coaching experience.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience in youth football ⚽️⚽️

What we can offer:

⚽ Mentoring and support from our experienced coaching team
🎓 Support towards gaining and developing SFA coaching badges
📚 Valuable hands-on experience within youth football

Dundee West Yellows 2–0 Monifieth Athletic Yellows

A tight opening game in the League Cup – Section Group E was decided by two late goals, with Dundee West grabbing all three points after strikes in the 71st and 74th minutes.

Plenty of positives to take from a closely fought game, but also plenty to work on. 💪

It’s back to training this week as we regroup and get ready for the next weekends match 💛
