Reading length early starts with watching the bowler’s hand at release. From there, it’s about making the right decisions, selecting the right shots and using your feet to create options against spin.

The boys worked on driving fuller balls, playing off the back foot and coming down the wicket with intent, before putting it all into practice in a competitive length-judgement game.

Brilliant effort from the group. Developing these skills at a young age will put them in a great position for the season ahead.

Don’t fear spin. Read it, move well and back your shots. 💪

🏏 1/1 Session Highlights!

Another great session with the our U12 Surrey player ZJ working on batting against spin 💪

🔥 We kicked things off with a fun front-foot and back-foot shot selection throw down exercise 👍

🏏 Batting – Holding your shape : Focusing on judging length, moving on the front foot, using the feet to get to the pitch off the ball. ZJ picked up the coaching points well and played some cracking shots!

⚡ We then took it up a level and tested him against the bowling machine with some interesting combinations under pressure 💪

Some great shots, quality footwork and a brilliant effort from him. Well done, ZJ Keep it up 👏🔥

AJ U9 Academy players were struggling to play the back foot shots. Really happy with the progress they made after this drill and practice. 👍😊
1- Make sure to have a high back lift
2- Moving back and across
3- Head in line with the ball
4- Keep the head forwards
5- Play the ball move and late
