5 things I wish everyone knew that might just take the fear out of stepping onto the mat 🧘🏼♀️☯️
1️⃣ You don’t need to be flexible to start.
Saying you’re "too stiff for yoga" is like saying you’re "too dirty to take a bath." Flexibility isn't a requirement; it's a byproduct. We use props, modifications, and options so the pose meets your body...not the other way around.
2️⃣ Nobody is watching you.
It feels like all eyes are on you when you’re trying to balance, but truth is? Everyone else is either staring at a focal point on the wall trying not to fall over, or deep in their own breath. Your mat is your own private island.
3️⃣ Yoga isn't about "doing it right."
There is no gold medal at the end of class for the deepest stretch. Yoga is about how a pose feels in your body, not how aesthetic it looks from the outside. Child’s Pose is always a valid choice, anytime.
4️⃣ You don't need fancy clothes or perfect gear.
You don't need activewear sets or expensive mats to belong in a studio. Comfort comes first. If you can move and breathe easily in what you’re wearing, you’re completely ready.
5️⃣ Feeling clumsy is completely normal.
Learning new ways to move your body takes time. Wobbling, losing your balance, or needing a moment to figure out left from right isn't failing....it’s just your nervous system processing new movement patterns
Laughter on the mat is always encouraged!
