Outdoor sauna Hardcastlecrags_nt this weekend, Friday to Sunday which means it's already a year since our first woodland sauna last October! 🔥
Very grateful to be part of this trinity of woodland wellness offerings at the Crags, sharing this space with Live Wild and Heather Grant | Yoga, Forest Therapy, & Wood-fired Sauna
Woodland sauna in rustic simplicity is perfect for nature lovers - if you don't mind sharing your changing room with swallows and are content bathing in spring water in an old tin bath!
Here's a run down of the last year as each month emerged and each day unfolded, each one differing, often wildly, to the last. Such abundance 💚
💚October: The beginning. We make a small, low key, off-grid set-up, with minimal bling (none). Surrounded by lush green, in every shade, chestnuts, and acorns. We tread carefully and leave no trace.
💚November: Rain. A lot of it. All day, every day! We need a dry space for changing and bags and so begin to borrow a bit of the boiler room!
💚December: Ice! Tree skeletons
💚January: New Year's Day, high and bright! With ice. And moss.
💚February: Snow (outside)! & Fire (inside)!
💚March: Tadpoles. Lots. Woodpeckers drumming
💚April: Sauna tea - heather, birch, fireweed/rosebay willowherb.... beautiful, ancient carpets of bluebells
💚May: Hawthorn, buttercups and ferns
💚June: The peak. Solstice, early morning and evening sauna, honeysuckle, rambling, elderflower, such abundance everywhere and a special thrush which sat on the roof of the mill singing it's heart out all weekend
💚 July: Cool, green shade, thankfully
💚 August: A pause. Heatwaves, fire risks, and water shortages - a pause seemed for the best
💚September: Gentle days returned, as well as mushrooms, toadstools, and a conker!
💚October (again) this weekend already, we begin again 🔥
