A little piece of my heart is changing 🤎🌼
After a lot of thought, I’m so excited to finally share that Root Rest & Raise is becoming Heddwch a Hiraeth.
This isn’t a change I’ve made lightly. In fact, I think I’ve been searching for this name without even realising it.
As the vision for this little business has grown, I wanted a name that felt deeply personal to me, but also represented the feeling I want this space to create for others.
I’m Welsh speaking and incredibly proud to be Welsh, so there’s something really special about building something around a language that has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
And then there’s Hiraeth.
One of those beautiful Welsh words that doesn’t really have a direct English translation.
It can describe a deep longing or yearning. For a person, place, time, feeling, sense of belonging, or even something you can’t quite put into words.
I’ve felt that longing throughout my own yoga journey. A longing for connection, community, somewhere I could simply be, and a way to reconnect with myself.
And motherhood has given the word even more meaning.
I wanted my son for so long, and when he arrived, it felt like something in me had finally found where it belonged.
Motherhood has changed me, stretched me, softened me and shown me parts of myself I didn’t know existed. There is such a beautiful sense of belonging in it for me.
I belong to him, and he belongs to me.
And somehow, through becoming his mum, I have never felt more like myself.
So when I think about hiraeth, I don’t think about wanting to go back to who I was before.
I think about belonging. Finding your place. Coming home.
Because sometimes coming home isn’t about returning to an old version of yourself. Sometimes it’s about discovering a part of yourself you never knew was there.
And then there is Heddwch.
Peace. Calm. Tranquillity.
Because I want this space to hold both.
The longing and the peace. The searching and the settling.
A place to slow down, breathe, move, rest, connect and simply have a moment where the outside world becomes a little quieter.
And there’s one more special meaning woven into the name…
🌼 The daffodil.
Our Welsh national flower, but also Noah’s birth flower.
A little nod to my Welsh roots, a little nod to my son, and a reminder of how much this chapter of my life has shaped me.
So Heddwch a Hiraeth isn’t just a new name.
It represents peace, longing, belonging, connection, movement, stillness, rest and return.
Because at the heart of it all is the belief that sometimes we don’t need to become someone new.
Sometimes we simply need to find our way home to ourselves.
So, hello Heddwch a Hiraeth. 🤎
A new name, but the same heart.
Just a little more room to grow.
Heddwch a Hiraeth
