Busy weekend ahead for the Lionesses !!

We are in the One Tournament Regional Qualifiers in Sheffield on Saturday 💪🏼 Hoping to qualify for a second year ⚽️

Then on Sunday we are heading down to Wetherby to take part in the West Ridings County League Gala ⚽️

🏆 Match Report — Lionesses vs Chester Le Street United

The Lionesses heading through to Chester Le Street to take on Chester Le Street United in a friendly.

Another chance for minutes in the tank and with a couple of players dropping out with illness, the lasses were kept busy.

We started off slow, seemed like we couldn’t get going and struggled to get the ball down and play like we usually do. Then 20mins in, Chester took the lead with a chance from a corner and that was the wake up the Lionesses needed.

Great ball into Ellie Mae’s feet and a tackle from Chester was deemed a foul and Ellie Mae got us level from the spot. The Lionesses started to take control of the game, playing some great football and controlling the tempo. A cross / shot from Scarlett, we don’t know, found Nell who put it back across for Chester to put into their own net. With the Lionesses on top, a great corner from Amber to find Ellie Mae free on the back post to tap into an empty net.

More valuable minutes for the lasses and they done well in the conditions. Thanks to Chester and good luck for your remaining league fixtures 👏🏼

☀️A Sunny Evening @ Gibside Gardens

Another great game between Newcastle City Juniors and Newcastle United 👏🏼

Both teams started off well looking after the ball and testing each other, the deadlock was broke with a corner from Harper and Bella heading home. Newcastle equalised with a strike from edge of the area and then took the lead with a great effort from distance.

The lasses went into half time knowing they had to step up their game, Newcastle came back out and looked after the ball well and found pockets of space to test us.

Freya took a knock and couldn’t continue, so Maddie took it upon herself to take the gloves and step between the sticks. Newcastle stepped up the gear and scored another two on the break.

Great minutes in the tank and another great game for the neutral 👏🏼

Newcastle City Juniors are representing the Nort East in ACES National Football Tournament 💪🏼

We played a year up last season at 7v7 and now the stage is set for 9v9 at our own age 👊🏼
