A really tough pre-season game today! Going 2-0 down out of nowhere in the first 5 minutes was a massive test of character.
​But after a quick formation change and a tactical water break, the girls really showed up in tough conditions. The pitch was incredibly narrow—which stopped us from playing our usual game of switching it wide and creating those 1v1 scenarios.
We had to adapt, go direct, and just battle.
In a tough fight, the best soldiers stand tall and get counted, and that is exactly what the girls did today.

​Alina & Amelia: Colossal performances from both. They caused absolute chaos and danger at every turn, and took instructions on board brilliantly.

-​Georgia & Woody: Gave us a rock-solid base to build off. They kept us calm and kept us moving forward. It always makes a massive difference when your defenders put in shifts like that.

-Flash & Ilses: Caused a constant threat with incredible pace from start to finish.

​There are plenty of things I liked today, and naturally, some things we still need to work on—which makes it the absolute perfect pre-season game.

This week was all about the tactical grind—focusing on how we occupy space on the pitch, but more importantly, how we use our runs to create space for our teammates. The work rate is getting higher and harder every single week, but the squad is rising to the challenge!
