A superb unbeaten century from overseas player Taheer Isaacs guided the 1st XI to a 4 wicket victory yesterday against St Giles.

Chasing 246, a calm, composed innings that was built with patience, quality and excellent game awareness. He timed the chase beautifully, absorbed the pressure when it mattered and accelerated at exactly the right moment to see us home.

A well-deserved hundred 100 not out and a match-winning knock. 👏🏏

Kieran produced an innings to remember, finishing 210 not out from just 114 balls as Newmarket 2nd XI stormed to victory over St Ives & Warboys.

His flawless knock included 26 fours and 10 sixes, helping the team post a formidable 318/5 from 40 overs.

The job was then completed in style with the ball, as St Ives & Warboys were dismissed for 124 with Matt Kempdale (3-17) leading the way.

A phenomenal all-round team performance but an innings like that deserves a special mention. Congratulations, Kieran! 💯🏏

Histon batted first but some disciplined bowling from Mark Nunn (2-36), Frank Stennett (1-38), Max Pipe (2-11) & Taheer Isaacs (2-20) then add in two superb run outs from Max Pipe and Histon were bowled out for 159. In reply, a flurry of wickets falling regularly ensured pressure was on in the chase but thankfully Max Pipe (42) & an incredibly calm and composed 34* from Udana Ranathunga guided us home by 2 wickets and secure a third league win of the season… which somehow now sees us top of the league 👀

Batting first on what can politely be described as an “interesting” pitch, valuable runs from Kieran Lloyd (34) alongside several useful 20+ contributions from Michael Ives, Romel Khan, Ollie Green and Chris Pell helped us post a competitive total. In reply, the bowlers completely took over with a superb all-round performance to dismiss the opposition for just 68. Kieran Lloyd (3-11), Chris Pell (2-25) and James Holmes (3-8) did the damage as the 2’s secured another excellent victory.

The Midweek 1’s bowed out of the cup in the first round after being restricted by some very disciplined Sawston bowling. Romel Khan’s 37 was the standout innings in what proved to be a difficult night for the batting unit. In reply, we kept things tight right until the closing stages with Albert Scott (2-27) the pick of the bowlers but credit to Sawston who got over the line on this occasion.

A proper cup tie that went right down to the wire with both sides matching each other score for score before the 2’s edged through on fewer wickets lost to progress into the next round. Safe to say there were a few nervous spectators by the end… 😅
