🔴⚫️Heighington U8s Match Report 🔴⚫️

Today we travelled to Wynyard

We flew out the traps and scored early. Matthew with a hat trick in 10 mins.

We then took our foot of the gas and let the opponent back into the game.

Second half quite sloppy but the boys showed grit and determination when not playing at our best.
2/2 after another promotion is very impressive 👏

🔴⚫️Heighington U10s Match Report 🔴⚫️

A couple of late injuries to the squad meant we had to change a lot around, last season I think we would have struggled to fill those positions and still been able to compete. It’s a great position to be in as a coach when you have 2 or 3 players who can play in most positions.

The game for me was over within the first 15 mins but the boys did exactly what we asked and maintained standards for the full 50 minutes not slipping into habits of been individuals and played as a team for the full game. Some very good performances and a real headache to pick a MOM.

Big mention to Dallas and Charlie who I thought played very well on that left hand side.

Coaches MOM Sammy Ashmore, asked to come off cause he was tired after 10 mins yet managed to cover every blade of grass after. 🔥🔥

Opposition MOM, would have been a fix if this lad didn’t get at least one MOM award after being a handful from start to finish. Teddi Halland ⚽️🚀🔥

🔴⚫️Heighington U11s v Hartlepool St Francis U11s 🔴⚫️

Heighington played there first home game of the campaign in the TJFA against a well organised Hartlepool St Francis team.

Heighington started the game really well with some great passing and the team working hard for each other, winning there individual battles all over the pitch, 2 brilliant first half goals from Kurtis and Mason took the boys into a half time lead, the coaches spoke to the boys about playing the easy pass always and the work rate needs to be better in the second half, the boys took this onboard and kicked on in the second half with some good football on show, the work rate was second to none. The coaches couldn’t of asked for anymore, a further 2 good goals from Kurtis to secure his hat-rick, the boys battled on with a good defensive display to secure the three points.

🔴⚫️Heighington U11s v Bournemoor Equality U11s 🔴⚫️

RFYL a winning morning for Heighington U11s.

Today was going to be a tough test against a good bournemoor side, we told the boys before the game to work hard for eachother and play the easy pass always, the game started and we found ourselves 2 goals down in the first 5 minutes because the boys didn’t come out of the traps and we weren’t working hard as a team, we managed to get back into the game but Found ourselves still down at half time.

The half time message from the coaches was simple we need to work harder as a collective and show what we can do as a team as it was a below par first half, the boys certainly listened they came flying out of the traps and pretty much dominated the whole of the second half with some brilliant passing, tackling and teamwork. The coaches couldn’t be any prouder of there second half performance to take the victory 👏

Nunthorpe Athletic Royals U11s vs Heighington U11s

The boys playing their first game in the TJFA gold division away to Nunthorpe today.

Some great football on display with the boys working hard for eachother all over the pitch, it was a well contested game of football both teams were evenly matched all over the pitch it ebbed and flowed for the full match. A close game which ended with Heighington conceding a late goal to decide to tie by 1 goal.

Heighington U11s vs Witton le Wear U11s

The boys starting in a new division after getting promoted knew it was going to be a lot tougher this season.

They came out of the traps fast scoring 4 quick goals in ten minutes dominated the game from start to finish with some great football being played, learning a lot from putting the effort in whilst training.

🔴⚫️ Heighington FC U14 2-4 Washington United Blacks U14 🔴⚫️

Heighington FC U14 kicked off the 2026-27 season with a spirited display at home, which bodes well for the future. The kids were having their first game since May but connected well and played some quality football at times.

Heighington started brightly and were soon pushing forward with intent, forcing Washington to defend, creating three clear chances with Josh, ever a handful, storming powerfully towards goal only to be denied by the keeper and the angle. Will G was a threat breaking down the right, looking to get the ball into the box, Connor was buzzing with skill and vision, and William R was a towering presence in midfield, tackling and driving forward.

Lapses in concentration were Heighington’s undoing as Washington hit bar and post and Riley cleared off the line in a pinball corner situation, before notching. The visitors were 2-0 up at the break.

The second half was again an exciting contest between two well-matched teams. More chances for Heighington, then Josh and Connor pulled goals back, deservedly so. Heighington continued to pose a threat to Washington but the visitors kept at it as well and bagged two more as Heighington again switched off at vital moments.

An exciting game and a good foundation for the season ahead.

Joseph H put in a great shift at right back to earn Player of the Match, while John showed good skill and strength at centre half and looked a class act driving forward second half. Special mention for Connor’s ‘Maradona turn’ that left two confused opposition players in his slipstream.

Well done to all the Heighington players and their Washington counterparts for an exciting, wholehearted match played in a good competitive spirit. 👏🏻 ⚽️

🔴⚫️Heighington FC U8s vs Redcar Athletic Reds U8s Coach Match Report🔴⚫️

After back to back promotions we welcomed Redcar Athletic to HTON.

We've been talking to the boys alot about the importance of hard work as we move up the Divisions.

From minute one every single one of them sprinted to every ball not giving the opponent a second. Our defensive shape looked strong and our GK Olly pulled off some greats saves when needed.

PLAYERS WANTED: Heighington FC Youth are a welcoming village club in the Newton Aycliffe, Darlington, Shildon area and the U14s are a lower level team with players across a range of ability making really good progress together in recent months.
