Some amazing results from our Northern sailors at the recent RS Tera nationals.

Congratulations to Harry Wilson from Filey Sailing Club and Aggie Priestley from Ullswater Yacht Club on achieving 🥇 overall and 🥉 overall &🥇female in the Tera Sport fleet.

Fantastic to see the Enterprise uk class celebrate its 70th anniversary by hosting the National Championships at the superb South Shields Sailing Club.

With some great sailing conditions, a fantastic race area, and excellent hospitality both on and off the water, South Shields proved to be a brilliant venue for such a landmark event.

70th Anniversary Enterprise National Championship 2026 at South Shields Sailing Club - Overall With three races scheduled and only four points between the two leading boats there was still all to play for, resulting in match racing tactics being employed at various points during the racing.

Following a MAIB report into a serious marine casualty, we’re sharing key safety messages for instructors.

When a marine accident happens, there are lessons to be learned that may help prevent a recurrence.

One such incident occurred in June 2023 and, as part of the recommendations in the report published by the MAIB in late 2025, the RYA was asked to share the safety messages with its network. The start of the UK summer season felt like an appropriate time to highlight these messages to instructors.

The North East & Yorkshire Youth Sailing Association is once again hosting the popular North Region Youth & Junior Championships. This year’s event will take place at Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club on 20–21 June.

We’re really looking forward to this highlight of the regional youth sailing calendar. It’s one of the biggest event of the year, and the past two editions have been a fantastic success. Don’t miss out—there’s truly something for everyone. If you know sailors at your home club who haven’t attended before, encourage them to get the dates in their diary and come along.

The Regatta Fleet will return for less experienced sailors, providing a great opportunity to get out on the race course and build confidence. A refreshed Rookie Fleet will also be running within the regatta programme—see the website for full details.

The event will also include several class calendar events, making it an exciting weekend for all levels.

Organised by NEYYSA in partnership with the host club, the event is entirely volunteer-run. Support is always greatly appreciated, and those interested in helping can sign up via the volunteer registration form on the event website.

Sunsail’s Funding the Future is back for 2026!

Aimed at RYA-affiliated sailing, yacht clubs, charities and university teams across the UK, Sunsail's Funding the Future initiative offers the opportunity to secure up to £6,000 of funding to invest in facilities, equipment, and innovative programmes designed to grow participation in sailing at grassroots level.

In addition to the top prize, Sunsail will also award £2,000 to two runners-up.

More than 280 of Britain’s top young sailors are heading to Hayling Island SC (HISC) this Easter, ready to put their winter training to the test ahead of the main summer season of championships at home and abroad.
