🏉 MEET THE TEAM: James Smith 🏉

Next up in our volunteer series, we caught up with James to ask him a few quick questions!

Q: Hi James! What’s your official role and day job?
A: I'm the Lead Safeguarding Officer and Junior Membership Secretary. Off the pitch, I'm a Truck Driver! 🚛

Q: How long have you been with the club?
A: 3 years now!

Q: What made you want to get involved with the Juniors?
A: "My son wanted to play rugby and I just wanted to get involved and support the club."

Q: What’s your Rugby Superpower?
A: The dream power to run the touchline for a full 80 minutes without dying! 🏃‍♂️💨

Q: Favorite rugby memory or team to support?
A: Bath Rugby! My favorite memory has to be that final kick in the 2003 World Cup final. 🏆

Q: If you could play any position on the pitch, what would it be?
A: Any position in the pack—straight into the engine room! 💥

🏉 MEET THE TEAM: Brian "Bry" 🏉
Next up in our volunteer spotlight, we caught up with our U7/U8 Coach to ask him a few quick questions!

Q: Hi Bry! What’s your official role and day job?
A: I'm the U7/U8 Coach. When I'm not on the pitch, I'm an HGV Driver.

Q: How long have you been with the club?
A: 1 year now!

Q: What made you want to get involved with the Juniors?
A: "I started helping out when my son joined, and then stepped up to take on the coach role this season."

Q: What’s your Rugby Superpower?
A: I can whistle pretty loud! 🔊

Q: Favorite rugby memory or team?
A: Playing for Northallerton myself many years ago.

Q: If you could play any position on the pitch, what would it be?
A: No. 3 (Tighthead Prop)! 💥

🏉 MEET THE TEAM: Our Junior Vice Chairman Julie Dickens Aka Nanna! 🏉

Next up in our volunteer series, we caught up with our Junior Vice Chairman Julie to hear a bit more about her time at the club!

Q: What's your role here and what do you do outside of rugby?
I'm the junior vice chairman and outside of rugby I'm a hairdresser.

Q: How long have you been with the club?
A: 8 years now!

Q: What made you want to get involved with the Juniors?
A: "It all started when my grandson joined. I wanted to pitch in, help out where I could, and just help make the Juniors side as great as it can be for all the kids."

Q: What’s your Rugby Superpower?
A: Definitely the gift of the gab—I can talk to anyone! 🗣️

Q: Favorite rugby memory?
A: "Getting on the pitch for a game of tag rugby with the lads... even if they did let me win!" 🏆

Q: If you could play any position, where would you be?
A: Wherever the most aggressive job is on the pitch! 💥

🏉 MEET THE TEAM: Geoff "Chable" Cowton 🏉

To kick off our new volunteer spotlight series, we caught up with our Junior Chairman to ask him a few quick questions!

Q: Hi Geoff! What’s your official role and day job?
A: I'm the Junior Chairman and Colts Coach. Off the pitch, I run a carpet shop.

Q: How long have you been with Northallerton?
A: 28 years now!

Q: What made you want to get involved with the Juniors side?
A: "When my son started playing, watching him and the other young guys excited about the game made me want to give something back to the sport I’d enjoyed so much."

Q: What’s your Rugby Superpower?
A: Master of pre-game pep talks, laughing at people when they punch me in the face, and I've never been beaten in the bar! 🍻

Q: Favorite rugby memory?
A: The St Bees tour in 2004 with Northallerton.

Q: If you could play any position on the pitch, what would it be?
A: Fullback (15)—it's the only position I’ve never played in a competitive game for Northallerton!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Junior Fundraising Raffle!

Thanks to your generosity, we're delighted to say we raised an amazing £966 for our junior section! 🏉💚

A massive thank you to everyone who donated prizes, bought raffle tickets, shared our posts and helped organise the raffle. Your support will make a real difference to our junior players and future fundraising projects.

We'd also like to thank all of the local businesses who kindly donated prizes – your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you once again to everyone who helped make the raffle such a success. We couldn't do it without you! 💚🏉

Last week to purchase raffle tickets at the rugby tag tournament, to be announced Friday.
We have had absolutely fabulous donations from local businesses and individuals. We are overwhelmed with support.
