Four Northants Tri Speedsters lined up for the Salcey Parkrun on Saturday with Andrew V adding in some extra 'transition training'; arriving slightly late he charged up with his bike - did a quick turn around before coming to line up with Andy G, Chris and Pete. None having run the new version of the course and all having missed the run briefing we were slightly unsure of the exact route through the forest but lined up on the start line full of enthusiasm. A frantic start followed with Chris B taking the early lead. As Chris distanced them Andy G and Pete played a game of cat and mouse along the trails splashing each other through puddles and keeping each other honest in their efforts. In the final reckoning Chris B finished 3rd in 18:34, Pete 4th in 19:12, Andy G 5th in 19:15 and Andrew V in 19:45 - running very close to a personal best and showing off the great running form he's been displaying in Thursday training sessions recently. Post race coffee game time for a good race debrief and analysis of efforts. Another great edition of the NTri Winter Parkrun Tour!

Til next year! Thank you to @threecountiesxc for another brilliant series.

A slippy, sloppy Sunday morning courtesy of @leightonfunrunners
We even had a member lose a shoe mid race (and have to dig it out with his hands!)

We've loved having lots of members racing across the series, welcoming newbies and seasoned XC-ers. It continues to be a firm calendar favourite for the club.

A special mention to Chris and Andy who secured top spot in their Age Groups!! πŸ…πŸ…

The Peter Willars 'Go For It' Trophy...
πŸ†πŸ’™β™₯️🀍
This was awarded for the first time last week at our annual event in memory and honour of our club mate.

Pete was a fantastic club mate and committee member, enthusiastic, competitive and hugely supportive. His willingness to get involved and supportive attitude is just what we strive for in Northants Tri.
The award recognises someone who has done something extraordinary or just a bit mad (!) outside of the standard multi sport disciplines and we felt this perfectly captured Pete and his legacy, whilst celebrating his contribution to the club in his time as a member.

We should all remember to 'Be More Pete' πŸ™Œ

πŸ†AWARDS NIGHT πŸ†

Our annual awards night held on Friday, recognised the remarkable dedication and achievements of our outstanding members and coaches over the past year. What a fun night! It was so great to see so many from the club out together.

A huge congratulations to all our very deserving award winners πŸ‘πŸ†

Tough conditions on Sunday at the 4th @threecountiesxc hosted by @dunstableroadrunners

The terrain was tough, plenty of hills (none of which particularly long but some very steep!). Mostly off camber paths which led to a few tumbles but a solid morning effort by all, with one of our members hitting the hardest course so far as her first cross country race since college πŸ‘

One more to go!

Here's a quick wrap up from the last few weeks!

🎽14 members battled narrow tracks, hills and sludge in the 3rd event held in windy fields near Baldock by North Herts Road Runners. Ntri member Stirling came an impressive 4th overall in a strong field of front runners even after a fall on a slippy corner. Well done all. Next event is 11th Jan in Dunstable hosted by can't wait.

πŸƒAdrian returned to the MK Winter Half, celebrating a 10 year anniversary! πŸ‘

πŸƒTom went slightly further afield and raced the Valencia Marathon nipping under 3hrs 25. πŸ™Œ

🌳 Several members came together to enjoy the 2nd of our 5 event Parkrun tour, this time at the Racecourse, NH.

Happy solstice! Here's to longer days and getting outside.

Enjoy the break. Back to training 5th Jan!
