It’s a wrap! 🎉
Last class of the spring term and we absolutely smashed “Rocking.”
This is what progression is all about—showing that with practice, you can really surprise yourself. You also start learning how your body works… like discovering it’s easier to initiate the move by taking hold with the left first rather than the right.
Next term, we’ll be working towards a brand-new target move from the repertoire 👀✨
It’ll be revealed on 16th February, when we return for the next exciting chapter! More fun pilates

I am very proud that I trained with Stott but what does this mean and what is the difference.
If you’ve ever wondered why Pilates can feel a bit different from studio to studio, here’s a quick breakdown! While both Classical and Stott methods build core strength, improve posture, and enhance overall movement, they approach the body in unique ways.
✨ The biggest difference?
STOTT Pilates focuses on maintaining a neutral spine (your natural curves), whereas classical Pilates often teaches imprinting, gently flattening the spine against the mat during certain exercises.
STOTT Pilates was developed with guidance from physical therapists and sports medicine experts, blending modern exercise science with traditional Pilates principles—making it great for posture, spinal health, and balanced muscle development.
Here’s a snapshot of how the two styles compare:
📌 Spine Alignment
• Classical: Encourages imprinting (flattening the spine).
• STOTT: Emphasizes a natural, neutral spine.
📌 Development
• Classical: Rooted in Joseph Pilates’ original early 1900s method.
• STOTT: A modernized approach created with rehab and biomechanics in mind.
📌 Focus
• Classical: Structured sequences for overall strength and fitness.
• STOTT: Alignment, posture, and rebalancing the body—especially helpful for rehab.
📌 Use of Props
• Classical: Primarily original equipment like the Reformer and Cadillac.
• STOTT: Adds tools like stability balls, foam rollers, and BOSU balls.
(some call it torture 👹)
📌 Approach
• Classical: Follows set, traditional sequences.
• STOTT: Includes warm-ups and adapts easily for athletes, prenatal clients, and those recovering from injury.
Whether you prefer the precision of classical Pilates or the modern, science-backed approach of STOTT, both offer incredible benefits. 💪✨

Looking forward to seeing everyone Monday at 6:30 after our little mini break. Used this time to do a bit of studying! Inspiration from this great little book. Still based on original Joseph Pilates matwork we are going focus on a repertoire that will tone the body, stabilise the core, improve balance and increase flexibility.
