Last week was a busy week for the Martinis. We started by visiting The Heart of the Shires for some shopping and lunch. Then a group of us had a great time having a cocktail evening at Room Thirty One. Finally we went foraging at Bradlaugh Fields with Dean

It’s Volunteers’ Week which is a chance to say thank you to volunteers. Our WI committee is made up entirely of volunteers who all give their time to ensure that our WI runs smoothly and for most of them, whilst holding down a full time job as well! From organising and facilitating our numerous subgroups to setting up the room at the monthly meeting, none of this would happen without the commitment from our volunteers. A massive thank you to them all ❤️

This week our Pudding Club visited Harlestone Heath Garden Centre to have a lovely afternoon tea. The service was very good and the cakes were delicious. We scored it an impressive 8/10.

As the weather was so nice, a couple of our members met up for a relaxing picnic and chat at Delapre Abbey.

May is National Walking Month. The Martinis love a walk. During the nicer months we have a Walk & Talk sub group who meet up for a relaxed walk with a friendly chat.

Last week our craft group met to make decoupage greeting cards. We all had a good time and enjoyed a chat whilst making the cards.

Our book club, Booktinis, met to discuss their latest read, Butter by Asako Yuzuki. They scored the book 6/10 with some mixed feedback.

This week is British National Sandwich Week! The Martinis love to eat and a lot of our activities involve food! We have food sub groups such as Pudding Club and Quick Supper. Even our Craft Group and Book Club, The Booktinis, have the option of meeting first for dinner. And of course we wouldn't be a WI without the obligatory (homemade!) cakes at our monthly meetings. Yummy! 😋🍔🍰🍸

It was a busy week this week for the Martinis. We had our monthly meeting on Monday where we voted for this year's WI resolutions and had a fun pub quiz. Our competition at the meeting was to create something using toilet roll and we had some very inventive submissions (the beautiful roses made from toilet roll won!).

Our Gardening subgroup had a lovely day visiting the beautiful Coton Manor Gardens and even managed to avoid the rain.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. What better way to improve your mental health than to make new friends. The Martinis are a very friendly group and we have lots of subgroups that can help with improving mental health such as our Craft Group and our Gardening Group 🍸👩‍🌾🧶

This week our Quick Supper Sub Group went to the Trumpet at Weston Favell for dinner. Our Quick Supper Group is a chance for us to go for an early dinner (6pm), have a chat and a catch up before heading home nice and early. We rated the food highly and we had such a good time that we forgot to take any photos!

A group of us also took part in the 10k Twilight Walk at Delapre Abbey in aid of Cynthia Spencer Hospice, raising money for a very worthwhile cause.

We're looking forward to our monthly meeting tomorrow where we will be discussing and voting on the WI resolutions for this year and taking part in a fun pub quiz 🍸
