Good run out a couple weeks ago
Thankfully neither of us 💩our pants during the race and still carried on (IYKYK)
If you’re trying to get in shape, build muscle, drop body fat, whatever it is
The environment you’re in will make or break your ability to see results
I’m grateful to be surrounded by coaches and people who also want to train hard, lift others up, push others to work harder, eat quality nutritious food, recover well, and stay active
But still know when to let our hair down
The result is getting in shape, staying in shape, staying fit and strong is pretty easy to do, because I’m constantly around people and situations that encourage my behaviours to lean towards what’s needed to reach my goals
But I’ve had to work to create that environment
Getting in shape isn’t about making one perfect decision, but repeatedly doing the simple things
Which the right people and environment make easier to do
People struggle for a few reasons but the main one I see is the environment you’re in is not supportive towards your goals
People tell you ‘you’re fine as you are’ - what they’re saying is coming from a good place but it’s still counterproductive towards progress
People call you ‘obsessive’ for being more sensible with your nutrition, whilst their entire social life revolves around drinking and over-eating
Cupboards and fridges full of high-calorie, low protein, low fibre foods
Social media feed full of restaurant reviews and food videos
Constantly saying ‘yes’ to any social event even when you don’t want to go
No surprise you find it hard to be consistent with what’s needed to get your physique and health where you want it to be
If you’re struggling at the moment, look where you’re spending most of your time, who you’re spending it with, how your home is set up and how that’s affecting progress
I’m sure that’ll give you a eye-opener as to what needs to change to create a better environment and be more consistent
You’ve got complete control over the direction of your day-to-day life, but it’s up to you to have those difficult conversations with yourself and change something
Another race ticked off, countdown to the next one begins 👊🏼
