If Christmas is a "feeling" which one is it to you?

YES - Christmas can be a wonderful time of year full of joy, festivities, singing cheesy songs, good food and better company.

However...

Christmas can also be a time of dark days and nights, cold weather, financial pressure, stress and guilt.

I imagine most would, when considering my opening question, say Christmas is a whole array of feelings and that is okay.

Let me repeat - THAT IS OKAY!

A surprising majority of men and women report some negative feeling toward Christmas wether that is stress, loneliness or something else.

If you feel down around the Christmas Season you are not alone!

What can be done?

👉🏼 Don't forget to take care of yourself by reminding yourself you are only human and what you feel is normal.

👉🏼 Exercise frequently - you may not break PRs each session or instantly achieve your goals in one workout but you will instantly receive mood boosting chemicals in each time you exercise.

👉🏼 Understand that making yourself guilty at Christmas for eating all the enjoyable Christmas food. Isn’t what you should be doing, enjoying food with friends and loved one creating memories is worth it. Your life and health goals won’t be completely thrown off track for enjoying Christmas so don’t gift yourself guild for Christmas this year

How to be a Goal Getter! 👀

The first step to hitting any target.. is actually setting one!

But did you know that which goals you set,

AND how you set them

Can impact whether or not you are successful 🤯

Every year people make New Years Resolution,

"I want to do x”
“I want to do y”

But it never materialises 😢

Next time remember to set 'SMART' goals 🤯

"SMART" stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

SMART goals meet all 5 of these criteria — and, as a result, are strategic, focused, and actionable.

Let me give you an example...

Bob's goal is to "take control of my health and fitness for my family"

So, let's help Bob out by turning this into a SMART goal....

- Specific: I’m going to start walking more daily and sign up to an coaching programme to give me 3 x weight based workouts to do per week.

- Measurable: I will track my steps and aim for minimum 8000 daily and log my walks & workouts

- Achievable: I could walk my dog for longer, and I have some gym equipment from home that I need to use more if I can’t make it to the gym. I work from home and have spare time during my lunch break to workout/walk!

- Relevant: I want to become a fit, healthy, and strong person — I want to be full of vitality, energy, and able have a better relationship with my partner, children and grandchildren.

- Time-bound: I have signed up for a 12 week online coaching programme to keep me accountable and to help me increase my fitness levels before April.

That's better right?!

🧠 Levelling up 🧠

So, for those of you who know me I have been someone who has mental health struggles in my life.

From depression, anxiety, eating disorders. To finding out recently I have a form of ADHD which I’m going through getting formal diagnosis for.

When I was speaking with a Dr about it, it made a lot of things make sense for me. Was this something if I had of realised sooner changed many things for me? Probably did I just put all the symptoms down to being just how I am, definitely.

A lot of the time all things mental health we just brush to one side and think “oh it’s just one of those things” “I’ll be fine” “I’ll just man up”

But that’s not really going to help solve anything is it?
By avoiding our mental health and treating it as something that will just get better without action is like getting shot in the chest and thinking “yeah, it’ll be alright”

When in actuality, it needs attention and action. Just like your physical health.

I completed the in the summer of last year, which was the most rewarding and beneficial course I’ve done since being in the fitness industry approaching 11 years.

What I have learnt from the course on a personal level as well as for my clients and business is second to none.

And the community of coaches that come with that is a group of coaches, that are both inspiring and motivating and understanding and compassionate.

Finally getting to meet so many of them last weekend was a truly inspiring event, learning, hearing their stories and taking on some new ways of thinking was great.

Truly looking forward to the direction I am taking my business.

Just a friendly reminder, this time of year can be a lot. Stressful, overwhelming and exhausting. That’s okay, just remember to look after yourself both physically and mentally. And if you ever need to chat or vent my inbox is always open to help.

👋🏼I’m just going to reintroduce myself for all the new faces on here. I am James👋🏼 

I have been in the industry a while now and have helped a lot of people retake control of their health and fitness. I have an approach which I’ve tailored over the years to get my clients taking back control of their health and fitness.

By improving strength, mobility and removing the every day pains, niggles and barriers to exercising. The reason I got into the fitness industry in the first place was to help people, learn from my own challenges and battles I faced during my life. My aim as a coach is to not only help you with the physical aspect of your day to day but also the mental aspect of your day to day.

For a long time in the fitness industry the main focus has been how we look and disregarding how we feel. To chase the “dream” physique. This has lead to a lot of food and exercises miss-information and FADs, including over restrictive food and excessive amounts of exercise which is not only detrimental to health but also not sustainable around actually having a life. Trust me, I’ve tried it all.

So I created my lifestyle program that helps you get fitter, stronger and feeling great without the over restriction and sacrificing having a life.

Does this mean that you won’t get the look you’re after? No, you’ll still get the look you want without having it as the main focus point it will just be the bi-product of the work we will do. It will also be a look that you can maintain and sustain without going through cycles of “bulking” and “cutting”
