To be acknowledged alongside so many inspiring individuals, studios and organisations across the UK dance community is truly humbling.

Black in the Ballroom was created with a vision of making Ballroom and Latin American dance more inclusive, accessible, and representative. Every class taught, every conversation started, every dancer welcomed into our community has been part of a collective effort to create meaningful change. These nominations are a reflection of the incredible people who have supported, championed, and believed in that mission so far.

Thank you to our students, families, partners, supporters, volunteers, and the wider community. Your encouragement, trust, and commitment continue to inspire us every day.

… And so we begin!

We would like to wish the best of luck to the Organisers, Dancers and all those participating in the 100th anniversary of the Blackpool Dance Festival .

As part of the celebration, we are drawing on the memories of .co who was featured in the documentary “Blackpool’s Dance Fever’, filmed 4 years ago with the incredible and gave a glimpse into the life of competitors and world behind the Winter Garden doors every year in May.

The festival carries a rich history and legacy, multiple champions have been crowned and lives changed overnight at this annual culmination of the sacrifice, dedication and practice of the dancer.

This 100th year marks not only the significance of the event in the world of dance but also the resilience of the festival, which has overcome many obstacles to remain one of the most prestigious events in the dance calendar.

To everyone competing - what a privilege to be able to dance in this centenary year and a memory to cherish forever. We hope that the celebratory atmosphere will feed into the performance as we await what will no doubt be a true spectacle of dance and a year to remember!
