I've always believed that if you have a passion for something - if it really lights you up - that you'll have a far higher chance of success.

I think this is really important in franchising, too.

So many times, I spoke to people who wanted to buy a franchise with me because it 'seems like a lucrative opportunity'... Thank you, next!

I'd only take people into my brand who were truly passionate about what we did - those who had a personal connection to the service.

And that paid off.

Business can be tough sometimes. Like, really, really tough. If you don't have that passion - that personal connection - to what you're doing, it's much harder to keep going during those darker times.

You can tell when somebody has a passion for what they do... Customers FEEL that energy. And businesses thrive when that energy is present.

That's where the magic happens! ✨️

Which type of thinker are you – A or B? πŸ€”

'A' level thinking involves focusing on problems, a natural response when we need to find solutions. On the other hand, 'B' level thinking, like Lewis Hamilton maneuvering on the racetrack, entails focusing on distant goals rather than obstacles.

While 'A' level thinking serves to identify risks and keep us safe, shifting to 'B' level thinking is key to achieving incredible results in life. It may sound simple but isn't always easy.

It's hard to explain Coaching, because it differs so much from one person to the next. So here's what it did for me:

I was reflecting recently on where my determination comes from - how do I keep going when the odds seem stacked against me? How do I continue to push forward, even when nothing seems to be happening? Where does that come from?

Aside from the fact that I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I genuinely want to help others, I put it down to the training I received at SF Group. It was HARD working there. They broke you down and rebuilt you again. They expected the best and nothing less. Blood, sweat and tears...

But they ignited something in me. The desire and determination to keep going comes from knowing that if you keep taking certain actions, you WILL be successful.

Consistent action. Every (working) day. Without fail.

It's not always easy, but the results speak for themselves.

Three years of being pushed to be the best version of myself transformed my attitude beyond measure.

There are 3 things your year-1 franchisees aren't telling you...

1. They are scared 😨
Scared of failing, of losing what they've invested and looking like a failure to others. They're scared of dropping the ball, of damaging the brand, of everything crumbling in front of their eyes.

2. They are overwhelmed 🀯
There is a LOT of information to take on. Possibly more than they anticipated. Now, they're running a business. There are parts of this that they hadn't fully anticipated, even though you trained them well and they understood the concept - living the MD life is different in reality.

3. They feel like they're different πŸ€”
Something about their situation, business, customer base, territory... It's different to the others. They feel like nobody can fully understand, because their issue is unique to them.

Of course, this all sounds very negative, and there are definitely franchisees who have a positive overall experience of year 1...

But I promised to share some of the things they AREN'T telling you, remember? πŸ’‘

So how do you reassure them? How do you make sure they have the skills they need to get through those challenges? What support do you have in place for them?

This is where engaging with a coach (not necessarily me, but me if you like) can be super valuable.

Year one can be a roller coaster, I get it! 🀯

You start with all the energy and excitement in the world, but at some point during that first year, self-doubt starts creeping in, and we begin to question ourselves...

This is not unique to you. I've been there twice, and I've seen countless business owners go through the same thing. So much so, that I've even named it (the Three Month Wobble)!

The Wobble usually happens between around 3-9 months after you start trading, but it can happen any time during year 1. And yes, it happens to people who bought , too.

So how do you identify The Wobble when it happens to you?

βœ…οΈ Every waking moment seems to be absorbed with your business, and not in a good way
βœ…οΈ You're doubting yourself and feel like an

I met somebody recently. I didn't even get his name. But you know when one simple conversation with somebody really sticks in your mind? Well, this was one of those...

He was telling me about some personal struggles he'd had, and about his mantra - "My world is taking care of me".

This mantra had helped him through some incredibly challenging times. It had helped him to keep the faith that this too shall pass, and that somewhere in the situation is something that will improve his life, even if he can't see it at this point.

Does this mantra change a situation? Probably not.

But when we're busy looking for the GOOD, our subconscious mind is going to filter everything around us and show us the good...

Have you ever got through a situation, to find that one those old sayings your Nan would have said suddenly resonates? You know the ones... 'When one door closes, another opens'. Or maybe, 'There are plenty more fish in the sea'... I'm sure there are many more I haven't listed, but you get the idea.

If you looked back at your biggest challenges from the past, can you find any good that came out of them? And if you'd had faith at the time that some good COULD come from the situation, how would that have changed how you felt at that time?

When you hear those dreaded words... "Thank you, but we've decided not to go ahead"... πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

And your subconscious mind gets to work on letting you know ALL THE THINGS you did wrong πŸ˜’ All your faults. All your flaws. How you're just not cut out for this. How maybe you're just not good enough 😫

You start to convince yourself that maybe - just maybe - you should give up and do something else. You're not a 'sales person' anyway. Sales people are sleazy πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ And that's just not you.

🚨 STOP 🚨

Sales is just a numbers game! Would you expect to score a goal every time you kicked the ball in the general direction of the net? Or win at bingo on every game? What about betting on a horse? Would you back a winner every time?

Sales is not sleazy (when done properly). In franchising at least, it's a process of discovery, where both parties can explore the suitability of the other. If somebody doesn't want to buy from you, that's fine! They just weren't for you. Plenty more will be.

The key is to not give up πŸ”‘ To keep your energy levels high, and to stay laser focused on finding the RIGHT person πŸ™‹πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ They are out there, believe me. But you'll never find them whilst you're busy beating yourself up in the corner πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ

Always remember... Every NO is one step closer to a YES πŸ’œ
