Those who attended the AGM were rewarded by an unannounced visit by new manager Tristram Whitman who spent an hour talking about his plans for the club before answering questions.

He said when he took over at Hucknall they were bottom of the league and he oversaw a rise to mid table and the lifting of the Notts Senior Cup.

Regarding Ilkeston, he said that last seasons players, apart from the three that had already left, had been contacted and told that they could stay if they wished.

He said some players had received offers from other clubs and he didn’t expect any players to commit for a while yet.

He particularly mentioned Sam Parker and Tom Marshall who he wanted to keep.

Last game of season, they needed to win to stay up.

Harry came on for the final 5 mins, the score line 3-3. With his first touch, Harry scores the winner to make it 4-3! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

It is with very mixed emotions and heavy hearts that we share some news that is incredibly difficult for our family to put into words.

After almost 40 years of dedication, sacrifice, and unconditional love, our mum, Kerry, has made the decision to retire. As a result, Kerry’s Chippy will be passing into new ownership, and Saturday 16th May will be Mum’s final day behind the fryer.

For nearly four decades, this shop has been so much more than just a business. It has been Mum’s life’s work, her passion, and in many ways, her fourth child. She truly gave her life to this shop. When she first took it on, it was simply a small, ordinary fish and chip shop. Through sheer hard work, determination, and countless sacrifices, she built it from the ground up into one of the most well-known and highly regarded chip shops in the area.

Mum has poured her heart and soul into every aspect of the business. She has worked incredibly long hours, often putting the needs of the shop and its customers before her own. Her commitment, resilience, and unwavering dedication have not only built a successful business, but also created a place that people know, trust, and love.

For us, Toni and Jodi, Kerry’s Chippy has been part of our lives since we were little girls. We grew up in the shop, doing our homework in the back, helping out whenever we could, and eventually working alongside Mum as soon as we were old enough. Some of our happiest memories were made here. This shop has shaped who we are and has been woven into the story of our family.

To our loyal customers, many of whom have become like extended family, thank you. Thank you for supporting Mum and our family over the years. Thank you for every order, every kind word, every conversation, and every smile. Your loyalty and friendship have meant more to us than words could ever express.

This is an emotional moment for all of us. It is hard to imagine life without the shop being at the centre of our family, but we are so incredibly proud of everything Mum has achieved.

Mum, there are not enough words to thank you for all you have done. Your strength, determination, and tireless work ethic have inspired us every day. You built something truly special from the ground up and created a legacy that will always be part of our family and this community. We are beyond proud of you, and although it is heartbreaking to say goodbye to this chapter, no one deserves a happy, relaxing, and well-earned retirement more than you do.

We will now pass Kerry’s Chippy on to new owners and wish them success as they begin their own journey.

Please join us in wishing Kerry all the love and best wishes as she serves her final customers on Saturday 16th May and starts a new chapter in her life.

With all our love and gratitude,

Toni & Jodi ❤️
