Following the visit to Forres a first time visit to Hopeman GC to see Shaun Geddes and gather data from three of his greens. It’s a long time since I last played there but the course is as good as ever with some superb views over the sea. An excellent set of results gathered overall to assist Shaun going forward.

More data gathering today at Elgin Golf Club and Maverston Golf Club. Both courses in great shape going into the new season. The change in weather is certainly welcome with some good temperatures to come this weekend.

Another visit to the club to gather more data from the fairways that are now fully mown with robotic mowers. This work is being done for Strathbogie Scotland as part of their research into how this type of mowing regime will affect turf surfaces going forward. I feel this type of installation is going to become a lot more common in the next few years with fuel and machinery costs rising out of control. The overall improvement in presentation of the fairways and semi rough at Duff house is remarkable in such a short time with no detrimental effects seen on turf performance or quality.

Always good to be back in the homeland. A bit of down time and a bit of work over the weekend. Data visit for Ross Macrae on three of his greens. Excellent results gathered overall with firm dry turf conditions seen on the greens. Lunch in the new clubhouse at Royal Dornoch was very nice as well.

First visit of the season to see Keith Burgon and collect data from his greens. Keith has the course in great shape for the coming golf season with turf quality on his greens very good already.

Early morning visit to see Chris Lamb to gather data from his greens on the Hawkshill and Swailend courses. Bit misty and cold for a start but it cleared up nicely later on. Strange weather at the moment with soil temperatures still low despite some strong sunshine. Great set of results gathered from both courses with firm dry surfaces overall with a strong cover of bent grass on all greens. Need some good night time temperatures to warm up the soil.
