Aughton & District Bowling League

Congratulations to Andy & Lindsay Slater who won the Addison Pairs Cup tonight, beating Paul Taylor & Dave Hulse 21-19 in an exciting final.

Andy & Lindsay took a 7-0 lead but Paul & Dave clawed their way back in to lead 19-16 and the game seem to have swung in their favour. However, Andy & Lindsay won the next four ends to take the trophy and £100.

A big thanks to the Eagle & Child for hosting the final and to all the spectators for supporting the event.

Well done to the Eagle & Child, who won the League’s Knockout Cup last night, beating Ormskirk Castle at the Tute. It was always going to be a keenly fought game with the Eagle & Child having to overcome a 60 point handicap. They did magnificently though and brought home the cup by 5 points on the aggregate.

After 5 games the Aughton Institute are currently leading the field in this year’s Aughton Bowling League, despite being knocked out of the Cup last week by Ormskirk Castle in a close game. The Eagle & Child, after a wobbly start, have moved up into second after a good away victory tonight at Ormskirk BC.

The Dog & Gun came unstuck at the Ormskirk Rebels, who are proving a bit of a bogey team for them.
