Throwback to one of the most unforgettable moments from our London to Paris ride 2014
On the penultimate stage, someone had the brilliant (or questionable! ) idea of an impromptu game of football… in cycling shoes, not football boots.
To make it even more surreal, we were sharing the pitch with legends like Ian Wright, Geoff Thomas MBE and Aidy Boothroyd
Ned Bolton volunteered to go in goal. I whipped in what I still maintain was an absolute pearler of a cross… someone rose to meet it, landed awkwardly, and poor Ned ended up with a broken toe!
This photo was taken after the amazing ambulance crew had worked their magic. The worst of the pain had eased by then, and thankfully he could even manage a smile.
Sorry again, Ned… although I’m still claiming the assist!

Not every cyclist has the flexibility to achieve a “traditional” pedalling position, and that’s where innovative engineering can make all the difference.
has very limited knee flexion, which would normally make cycling uncomfortable—or even impossible—with a conventional crank setup.
Thanks to the clever swing arm system from High Path Engineering, her foot no longer has to travel above the height of the bottom bracket during the pedal stroke.
The result is a far more natural movement, allowing people with restricted knee flexion, arthritis, or similar mobility challenges to continue enjoying cycling with minimal impact on their pedalling symmetry.
It’s a brilliant example of how the right equipment, combined with the right bike fit, can keep people doing what they love.

White Shoes + White Socks = 50 Watts!
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Gus Dutton into the studio to get fitted for a new pair of Lake CX302 cycling shoes.
Gus is one of the UK’s most exciting junior cyclists and a rider with a very bright future ahead of him. He’s also great company, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
What many people don’t realise is that when you buy cycling shoes from us, you’re not just buying a pair of shoes. Every shoe purchase includes a professional cleat alignment and fitting service, ensuring you’re positioned for maximum comfort, efficiency and performance from day one.
Whether you’re one of the best junior riders in the country like Gus, chasing podiums every weekend, or simply an enthusiastic amateur looking to get more from your riding, you’ll receive exactly the same level of care and attention. Every rider is treated like a professional cyclist.
The Lake CX302 continues to be one of our favourite performance shoes, combining outstanding comfort, fit and power transfer. And let’s be honest, white shoes and white socks never hurt either.
Thanks for choosing us, Gus. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.

We had an important reminder in the studio this week — and it’s one worth sharing.
A rider was referred to us for breathing difficulties on the bike. As many of you know, breathing is something we specialise in at our bikefit studio, so this seemed like a straightforward case.
But something didn’t add up.
✔️ No history of asthma
✔️ No previous breathing issues
✔️ No obvious postural restrictions
Just a sudden, unexplained drop in power… and riding feeling much harder than it should.
Following further investigation, the cause wasn’t breathing mechanics at all — it was a heart condition.
This is why awareness matters:
If you’re a cyclist — especially over 40 — and you experience:
• Unusual breathlessness
• A sudden or unexplained drop in power
• Efforts feeling disproportionately hard
• A change that doesn’t resolve with rest or training adjustments
Don’t ignore it.
Don’t try to “train through it.”
Go and speak to your GP.
Performance issues aren’t always about fitness, position, or technique. Sometimes your body is asking for help in a different way.
Thank you for watching.
I’ve just watched the video and realised I’m heavy breathing throughout the whole speech!

Seb’s Story
was involved in a serious crash at the Cicle Classic, hitting a tree and sustaining significant damage to his shoulder.
Since then, movement in his arm has been very limited. His bicep is functioning, but he’s unable to raise his arm.
This creates real challenges on the bike — from load bearing and stability, to something as simple as reaching into a back pocket for food during a ride.
Things most riders don’t usually have to think about.
We’ve been working with Seb at Benefit Bike Fit Studio to help him adapt to these changes and find practical ways to ride more comfortably and efficiently.
This video he shared gives an insight into that process.
Thank you Seb, for your kind words and for taking the time to video your experience with us.

Today was a huge eye-opener!
Emma and I took the Skarper system out on one of our favourite gravel routes, and honestly… it blew us away!
For those who haven’t seen it yet, Skarper transforms your existing bike into a seamless e-bike in seconds — no permanent changes, no fuss. Just clip in and ride.
What really stood out today wasn’t just the tech — it was what it does for the ride experience. We were still out together, still sharing the same trails, but the dynamic completely shifted. Emma absolutely flew up the climbs, and for once, I was the one trying (and failing!) to stay on her wheel!
That’s the real magic of something like this. It’s not about replacing effort — it’s about removing barriers.
Whether you’re coming back from injury, dealing with illness, or just want to keep riding with stronger friends or partners, this opens the door to riding together in a way that might not have been possible otherwise.
Same ride. Same smiles. Just a little extra help when you need it.
And yes… I’ll be training harder before the next one.

Last minute panic? We see it all the time…
Big event in the diary.
Flights booked.
Hotel sorted.
Kit laid out.
And then…
“Hi mate, any chance you can squeeze me in for a bike fit next week?”
We love the enthusiasm. We admire the optimism. But here’s the truth:
If you’ve got something important coming up — a race, a trip, a challenge that matters to you — please call us sooner rather than later. There’s a reason we have a three-month waiting list. It’s not by accident. It’s because what we do is detailed, precise, and (we’ll say it) the best in the world.
A proper fit isn’t a last-minute tweak. It’s preparation. It’s performance. It’s confidence on the start line.
So if your “big day” is on the horizon… don’t leave it until the week before.
And massive thanks to the legend Phil Wright (Fred’s dad!) for starring in and directing this little skit. Oscar nominations pending.
