The lads took part in the annual 7's tournament yesterday at Victory Park. Organised by the Brig Legend Phil Zieba!
3 wins and a draw from our group and a penalty shoot out win against the Brig Legends team seen us into the final against Scone Thistle Over 35’s. Unfortunately, the lads came up short, losing 2-1.
Well done to Scone and a huge well done to all the teams who contributed to a great day!

🏆 PERTHSHIRE MINI LEAGUE 🏆
We begin our Perthshire Mini League tonight against Scone Thistle. This is a 4 team league with Craigie over 35s FC Football and Falkland also taking part.
Up until now, the boys have only played "friendlies", so will be good to be playing for 3 points and the chance for some silverware at the end of the campaign.
Craigie also playing Falkland tonight.

Alloa 0 v 5 Bridge of Earn
Goals: Angus x2, Kenny, Moyes, Raffa
An outstanding effort from the lads tonight through at the Indodrill Stadium, home of Alloa Athletic.
Making the journey through with a squad of just 10 (TEN!) and requiring an emergency goalkeeper to step in. The goalie in question was the son of one of their players (13 years old!!!) and he managed to keep a clean sheet pulling off a few crucial stops.
Squad:

Moyes
Adam Carstairs
Craig Angus

Crieff 2 v 6 Bridge of Earn

Great performance from the lads tonight through in Crieff in chilly conditions 🥶
The Brig set up with the same shape that worked well last time out and dictated the play from the offset.
The Brig were rewarded for their dominance when Ewan Moyes was able to tuck the ball home after a bit of pinball in the Crieff box.
The lead was extended on 20 minutes when Moyes curled a great free kick from 25 yards into the bottom right corner.
Crieff managed to get a goal back through some neat play. The goal was against the run of play and the Brig managed to establish their 2 goal advantage when Mark McCabe towered above the Crieff defence to head the ball neatly into the bottom corner.
Callum McConnell then put the visitors 4-1 to the good after some good work up top.
4-1 at the break.
The Brig freshened things up again at the break as they looked to keep the pressure on Crieff. The home side managed to get another goal back on 50 minutes, to bring the game to life again.
The Brig were awarded a fairly soft penalty shortly afterwards, which Moyes buried to complete his hat-trick. Those on the bench initially thought the ref had only stopped it due to a head knock.
Crieff had a chance to pull a goal back when they were awarded a penalty but Reilly failed to convert after a superb diving save from Robson.
A great bit of play on the edge of the box seen Angus slide the ball to Kenny Scott who buried past the keeper to put the game beyond the hosts.
The ref could have probably let everyone get a hot shower early as the next 20 minutes seen the Brig enjoying lots of possession, creating more chances, but unable to add to their tally.
Crieff fought hard throughout and will be a team to be reckoned with once they're properly up and running - a lot of the successful Vale of Earn squad were in their ranks. We wish them all the best for their first season in the central 35's league and look forward to the next time we meet.
Well done to all the Brig lads. Tremendous from start to finish. Enjoy your beers this weekend!

Heartbreak for the Brig in Blair
Blair 4-3 Brig
Scorers for Brig: Storrar x2, Mitchell
Left the Brig with a squad of 14, 2 call offs and a no show left us with the bare 11 against a 15 man Blair squad.
The boys started the brightest, creating several chances before going in front after 20 mins. A good passage of play down the right eventually led to the ball being cut back across where Bloomer's attempted effort eventually found Storrar at the back post to convert from a few yards. The Brig continued to dominate and were playing some of the best football we've seen since forming the team. Another great passing move led to Mitchell finding space on the edge of the box, who took his time before finding the bottom left hand corner, 2-0 with 30 minutes on the clock.
Blair made a number of subs during the closing stages of the half and started to apply a bit more pressure, with a few long range efforts, before finally pulling one back after some panic stations defending from the Brig who were needing the half time whistle.
Half time 1-2
The second half was a bit more even with chances coming at either end. It was the Brig who capitalised when Storrar found himself up the pitch and smashed the ball from the right edge of the box past the goalkeeper.
At 3-1, the boys continued to knock the ball around and create chances to put the game to bed. With no subs, the fitness started to take it's toll, with more gaps appearing across the pitch for Blair to exploit. Blair pulled a goal back with 15 to go
On 80 minutes, Brig went down to 10 men due to an injury, making life even more difficult for those on the pitch. Blair went on to equaliser with only a few minutes on the clock.
Having been cruising for most of the game, being pulled level was a bitter blow, so the Brig put numbers forward in the hope of a late winner, which almost game when Angus found himself through on goal, round the keeper, but a great challenge kept him out. With what should have been the last chances of the game, Brig had consecutive corners, the second of which was cleared up the pitch. With legs beyond gone at this point, Blair managed to get numbers forward and after an attempted clearance found a man on the edge of the box, who curled home to break Brig hearts. The ref adding additional stoppage time in a friendly where a team has a bare 11 and had to go down to 10 due to injury was an absolute joke...he was told that in no uncertain terms.
Every man on the pitch gave their all and if we'd even had a couple of subs to keep rotating things, we'd have come away with a comfortable victory last night.
Thanks to Blairgowrie & Rattray Community Club Over 35’s for the game and well done for keeping going and the win.
