A Message From The MaD Races Family

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to share the news that Abi’s Mam, our Mamma MaD, peacefully passed away on 12th August 2026. 💔

Mamma MaD was so much more than just Abi’s Mam. She was a huge part of the MaD Races family, and so many of you will have met her at Kiplin Hall (with the turkey hat on🦃) and doing registration.

She absolutely loved MaD Races and all of you.

One of the things she was looking forward to most, was seeing everyone again at future races. She was so excited to be there, cheering you on, seeing familiar faces and watching MaD Races continue to bring people together. ❤️

Sadly, she won't get to do that in person, but we know she will be there with us in every step and every MaD adventure to come.

We are hoping, when the time is right, to do something special in Mamma MaD’s memory and raise money for a charity that means something to our family. We will share more about this with you when we are ready.

For now, though, we are taking some time away to be together as a family, grieve and remember the incredible woman that Mamma MaD was.

We know it has not been the best start to our custodianship of MaD Races, and we will ensure we push forward and learn from this year but we thank you for all the love, kindness and support you have shown our family, since we took over.

Run, laugh and make memories.
That’s exactly what Mamma MaD would want. ❤️

To our amazing MaD Races Family ❤️

Unfortunately, we have made the incredibly difficult decision not to host our Kiplin Hall event this year.

Many of you know that our wonderful Mama MaD (Abi's Mam) has been incredibly unwell since January. After months of hospital admissions, treatments and fighting so hard, she is still extremely unwell. So as a family our focus right now is on spending every precious moment we can together.

We were determined to make Swainby Sweep happen because we never wanted to let any of you down. We gave it absolutely everything we had, but emotionally it took its toll on all of us, and we know things weren't quite to the standard we aim for which we apologise for.

MaD Races has always been built around family, community and making memories. Right now, we're taking the time to make some precious memories of our own.

We know many of you will be disappointed, and we are truly sorry. Thank you for your understanding, your kindness and the incredible support you've shown us over this year. It means more to us than you'll ever know.

We hope you'll continue to support MaD Races when we're ready to return, (hopefully next year).

Until then, we kindly ask that you keep Mama MaD in your thoughts.

❤️ A Little Update from the MaD Races Family ❤️

Firstly, we'd like to say a huge thank you for your patience and understanding over the past few weeks, and to offer our sincere apologies for the delays in communication and getting some of the Swainby Sweep t-shirts out to you.

As many of you know, MaD Races is very much a family affair. Unfortunately, abi's mam, our wonderful Mama MaD has been in and out of hospital since Swainby and our focus has been on looking after her. As a result, some MaD Races jobs have taken a little longer than we would have liked and we are sincerely sorry, this is not our standard.

We would like to let you know that all remaining Swainby Sweep t-shirts were posted yesterday and should be arriving with you very soon.

We will also be sending an email to all of the Swainby Sweep participants this evening, please keep your eyes peeled.

Thank you for bearing with us during what has been a difficult and uncertain time. The kindness, support and understanding from our amazing running community never goes unnoticed, and we're incredibly grateful for every one of you.

Morning everyone,
So today and tomorrow I am off to get everything sorted from Swainby. Abi's mam is in hospital currently, so any questions please pm the page and I will respond when able.
If you guys and gals have any videos or pictures from Swainby, please tag us, put them in the comments or send us them, so when I see Mama MaD later I can show her them, to show her all of your achievements and your time at the race.

Hi Everyone,
This is Keith.
Apologies we have not managed to send out t shirts or winners trophies, since Swainby, Mama MaD (abi's mam) has taken a turn for the worse. We are navigating a heartbreaking time but we are sorry we have not sent stuff out yet. I will try my hardest over this weekend to get things sent out and sorted.
