Why did Gala Academy introduce yoga into badminton training?
It started during coaching sessions.
As coaches, we were teaching lunges, balance, body rotation, posture, and movement control. We expected players to stand on one leg, stay balanced while hitting, keep their chest upright, and move with control around the court.
But very quickly, we noticed something important.
Many children — and adults too - struggled with these simple foundation skills:
• Balance
• Core control
• Breathing properly
• Body awareness
• Stability during movement
We realised badminton technique alone was not enough. Before players can move well on court, they first need to understand how to control their bodies.
That’s where yoga came in.
Yoga helps players develop core strength, balance, flexibility, breathing control, and focus — all essential skills for badminton performance and injury prevention.
At Gala Academy, we are redefining badminton training by combining technical coaching with movement education, helping players build a stronger body, calmer mind, and more confident game.

We asked adults why they attend training at Gala Academy.
Here’s what they told us:
“I keep making the same mistakes and want someone to show me how to fix them.”
“I never get to the shuttle in time — I want proper footwork.”
“I want to beat my husband in a game.
“I want to learn properly, not just hit and hope.”
“I tried coaching elsewhere and all we did was play games.”
“I want to understand tactics and positioning.
‘I don’t want to feel like the weak link anymore
The gym bores me — badminton keeps me fit and motivated.”
“ want to feel confident during games.”
“I want something that’s mine outside of work and home.”
At Gala Academy, adults train because they want to improve with structured, purposeful supportive environment.
