On Friday 22nd December, Elise Escoffey will be leading The Choir That Can't Sing, also known as Women of the West End (LTC), in their first public performance.

The choir is made up of club members who wanted to take up singing for fun. They've been meeting for the past few months, belting out their favourite tunes and enjoying the many benefits of group singing.

The evening will be a very casual affair, so please come and join them, sing along, even if you don't know the words, and enjoy some mulled wine, mince pies and merriment as we head into the Christmas weekend. The singing will commence at 7pm.

Alan Lewis - RIP

It is with deep sadness and regret that we have learned of the untimely passing of Alan Lewis. Our condolences, thoughts
and best wishes to Joan & his family.

We had planned to hold a charity cake & bake sale on Friday but, for a number of reasons, have now decided to put this back to the New Year, when we all need a pick-up from the post-Christmas winter blues.

We will now be holding the Bake Sale on Friday 27th January 2023, between 10am and 12pm.
All proceeds will be going to the National Autistic Society.
It's a bring & buy sale for cakes, biscuits, cup cakes and bakes of all types, homemade or shop-bought.

Come down for some tea and/or coffee, enjoy the company and a little indulgence.

Please can you let me know if you are planning on bringing some cakes, biscuits or bakes on the day.

The 2022-2023 Winter Handicap Tournament:

The Winter Handicap Tournament is back and we're looking to get underway with another fun tournament. There are 5 categories:

- Ladies Singles
- Gentlemen's Singles
- Ladies Doubles
- Gentlemen's Doubles
- Mixed Doubles

The Winter Handicap Tournament starts in November 2022 and runs until March 2023.

These are open to Full, 7-Day, Country, Student and Vacation Student members.

With a level playing field, these handicap tournaments provide great competitive and fun tennis over the winter months.

This year's organisers and Tournament Referees are Bailie and Amit Kumar. For any queries, please either email [email protected] or call Amit on 07718-598754.

I am sure a number of you must be enjoying Wimbledon with some excellent matches till now.

Let's hope Norrie makes it to the Wimbledon finals on 10th July but anyways it's certainly going to be an interesting final to watch on the 10th!

It will be nice to watch the Men's Finals together, so Amit has organised a strawberries and cream afternoon on Sunday 10th July from 1.30-3.30pm. Drinks will be available from the bar.

Please let Amit know by email ([email protected]) or please send him a message on his mobile (07718-598754) as soon as possible, (deadline 1pm Friday, 8th July), if you would like to watch the final in the Clubhouse, so we can organise the strawberries and cream accordingly.

Please note that there will be a cost of £5 per head for the afternoon strawberries and cream!

Hopefully, it will be a nice afternoon and a competitive final, so we look forward to seeing you there.

Next Wednesday 9th March, at what is usually social time, starting at 7pm, we will be running an American Doubles Tournament with all proceeds going towards donations for Ukraine. Spaces will be limited with a deadline on Monday 7th March. The entrance fee is £10 and the Tournament will be followed by food in the Clubhouse.
