WHAT THE FRIDAY!?

DID YOU KNOW !?

The year was 1994. The Caribbean Cup. At the time, FIFA had introduced the golden goal rule – meaning that a goal scored in extra time would count as two.

In the decisive match of Group A, Barbados faced Grenada. To progress from the group, Barbados had to win by a margin of at least two goals. Grenada, meanwhile, could afford to lose – but only by a single-goal difference.

With five minutes left on the clock, Barbados were leading 2–1 β€” but that wasn’t enough. They needed a two-goal margin to go through. So, in an extraordinary twist, the Barbados players deliberately scored an own goal to level the match at 2–2 and force extra time β€” where they could take advantage of the golden goalrule.

With the scoreline even, chaos truly erupted. Grenada, realising the situation, now tried to score… in their own net! Barbados, in response, began defending both goals β€” theirs and Grenada’s β€” in a bizarre tactical stand-off. The pitch turned into a theatre of madness. Eventually, the whistle blew β€” full time was up. In extra time, Barbados scored the golden goal, which under the rules counted as two, giving them the required margin and sending them through to the next round.

Soon after, the golden goal rule was quietly scrapped.

Madness 😱😱😱😱

BSB β€œBlood Sweat and Beers” has had 3 badges in its short two years of existence!

The first image- BSB FC, this was the OG the badge to start it all ! Fun fact BSB came from a FPL league name that was then used for a six aside team containing a lot of players in said league ! The team of course changed a lot during this period.

The second image- BSB Harchester FC, this was the birth of the 11 aside team when a group of lads came together and merged to form an 11 aside team that most of you would recognise and know, during this transition players such as Chris Anderson (me πŸ˜…) Alex Bowrey, James Lowe and Dan Bee continued on with BSB where as the other players parted ways.

The Third Image- BSB Chaddlewood FC, is the most recent and up to date instalment of the BSB legacy, following Harchester changing their name to Plym Vale United, BSB retook its own identity and went back to its roots of 6 aside football. In honour of the first badge created by Alex Bowrey the kits will consist of the colours red, black and white and the badge being a gold colour to really give the colour of the beer in the teams title and hoping this badge brings luck and success in BSB’s future.

So a breath history of each badge and a glimpse of what the future holds with a red and black home kit and a white and red away kit πŸ‘€πŸ‘€ updates of course to follow !
