Hello all,

Just an early heads up that on Sunday 2nd August YCC will be hosting a cricket match against SWAST. After the game has finished there will be rounders and some family games.

I anticipate the car park to be very busy as many families are intending to attend.

You are all cordially invited to come along, the bar will be open and a BBQ will be serving burgers and hotdogs in the afternoon.

Permission has been granted by the Athletics Association to allow up to 5 vans to stay overnight.

A thriller that went right to the final overs! 🏏

Plymouth looked to be cruising, but some late hitting dragged Yealmpton right back into the contest and set up a tense finish. Despite the fightback, we fell just 7 runs short.

Standout performances came from S Knapp (78)* and S Bennett, whose 53 came from just 20 balls, while T Mitchell (2/6) stalled the Plymouth cc onslaught and impressed with the ball.

Congratulations to Plymouth CC on a fantastic game played in great spirit.

🏏 JUNIORS MATCH REPORT – GOLD vs RED 🏏
What a fantastic evening of cricket at Yealmpton CC as we held our first juniors match for nearly a decade! ☀️👏
After winning the toss, YCC Gold elected to field first, sending the Reds in to bat. With batting taking place in pairs for four overs each, the Reds built their innings steadily. Despite losing a few wickets along the way – each costing five runs – they batted positively to post a competitive target of 38 runs from their 12 overs.
Gold made the perfect start to the chase, with the opening pair finding the boundary regularly and, crucially, keeping hold of their wickets to put the pressure back on the Reds. However, the Reds responded brilliantly with some disciplined bowling, sharp fielding and a couple of timely wickets to bring the match right back into the balance.
It all came down to a tense final over, with the Reds knowing that one more wicket from the final ball would secure victory. The Gold batters held their nerve though, seeing out the last delivery to claim a thrilling 5-run win.
More importantly than the result, it was a fantastic advert for junior cricket. The enthusiasm, teamwork, encouragement and sportsmanship shown by every player was brilliant to see, and the match was enjoyed by a great crowd of parents, families and club members on a beautiful summer evening.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support, helped organise the evening and made it such a special occasion. Hopefully this is the start of many more Yealmpton Juniors matches to come! 🏏

JUNIORS MATCH NIGHT – THIS WEDNESDAY! 🏏
After weeks of learning new skills, playing games and plenty of fun along the way, our Yealmpton Juniors will be putting it all into practice in their very own match this Wednesday evening!
The players have been split into two teams and will take to the field for what promises to be a brilliant evening of cricket. For many, this will be their first experience of playing a proper match, so we’re looking forward to seeing everything they’ve learnt over the past few weeks.

A results catch-up from the last couple of weeks...
We’ve had two good home games in the P&D League against Plymouth and Cornwood. Unfortunately the results didn’t quite go our way, but there was still plenty of entertaining cricket, some excellent individual performances and lots of positives to take from both matches. Onto the next one!

🏏 FRIENDLY MATCH REPORT – YEALMPTON CC vs ERMINGTON CC
A fantastic evening of cricket at Yealmpton, with the game going right down to the very last ball.
After winning the toss, Yealmpton elected to field and did well to restrict Ermington to 110/6 from their 20 overs, with disciplined bowling and fielding keeping the visitors within reach.
In reply, Yealmpton kept pace with the required run rate throughout the innings and looked in with a chance of pulling off a memorable chase. As the game reached its climax, Yealmpton needed 6 runs from the final ball to sn**ch victory.
The final delivery was struck sweetly and for a moment hopes were high, but the ball dropped just short of the boundary rope and only yielded four runs, leaving Yealmpton agonisingly short by a single run.
A thrilling finish to a great game of cricket and plenty of positives to take away from a closely contested match. Well played to both sides! 👏🏏
