Busy pickleball day! Plympton players, Lisa and Jane played in their first pickleball tournament, the South Devon Pickleball Summer Cup. They had a great time and didn’t come last! The event was termed “Pickleball Carnage” by one player from Exeter who commented on the fact that our group was mixed with a higher rated group. This meant that us newbies had to play more experienced tournament players, which we were not expecting! The players were all very friendly and we enjoyed the games anyway. Players came from Somerset and Cornwall – dedicated to pickleball or not enough tournaments or both? Thank you to Harry and Katharine for organising. Pickleball in Madeira! Outdoor play available but wind stopped play on Monday. Check out the occasional low cloud - we were at 580 m, 1,902ft! Pickleball England

LOOK - first pickleball court lines painted in the Dome. Thanks to Glen and Troy of Creative Crossover who have made a start on painting 9 courts for us at Hele's School Dome. It's good to have four community organisations working together. First the Rees Centre got the equipment and worked with Jane and Peter to put on free taster sessions. Then Hele's School and Plympton Pickleball Project combined with Creative Crossover to get the lines done. Pickleball is coming to the school curriculum very soon! Plympton Pickleball Puzzlers Prime Place in Plympton fundraiser quiz night! Two pickleball teams, (some also tennis players), took the two top places in the Plympton Community Council quiz to fundraise for the Ridgeway Christmas lights. "The Rich Teas" took second spot, with 4 from 6 being pickleball players😀. Congratulations to the "N is for Knowledge" team of Peter, Jane, Paul, Neil, Scott and Suzanne. Particular strengths were sport and music but who knew the "O" in "OLED" TV screens stood for Organic? Thanks to all the other teams - a great community turnout to support the Ridgeway Christmas lights 2026. (Yes folks, Christmas is getting earlier every year!)
