Campaign helps keep Duns swimming club afloat

More money for Scotland’s swimming pools will be at the centre of a debate in Parliament on Tuesday 6 January.

MSPs will discuss a petition lodged on behalf of Scottish Swimming, calling for support to keep pools and leisure centres open.

The Petition’s Committee has already heard evidence from coaches, swim groups and elite athletes – including Olympian Duncan Scott.

The debate, which takes place at 3pm, is likely to cover key points, including:

🟣 The importance of pools for health, wellbeing, and water safety
🟣 Significant financial challenges being faced by facilities
🟣 Scotland’s high drowning rate and the importance of children’s swimming lessons

Well done to Eyemouth and District Amateur Swimming Club coach Iain Pemble on a very well deserved award. 🏆🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Congratulations to Iain Pemble, recognised for his exceptional Service to Local Sport!
Iain has transformed Eyemouth Swimming Club from 18 swimmers to more than 60, guiding athletes to Borders, East District and National success — including Scottish Junior Academy selections.
A leader, a mentor, and a driving force for local swimming. Thank you, Iain!
