TODAY’S HOSTS — FORTH WANDERERS
Forth Wanderers are one of the long-established names in the West of Scotland game.
Based in the village of Forth in South Lanarkshire, the club dates back to 1904 and has played at Kingshill Park since 1934. Before settling at Kingshill, Wanderers played at Pleasure Park and later Hie D**e.
The club has enjoyed several notable moments across its long history, including winning the Lanarkshire League in 1965–66, the Central League B Division in 1979–80, the Lanarkshire Junior Cup in 1959–60 and the Central League Cup in 1984–85.
One of Forth Wanderers’ biggest achievements came in 1980–81, when they reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Junior Cup. Their home quarter-final against East Kilbride Thistle reportedly attracted a crowd of 2,324 to Kingshill Park.
The club also has links to some famous Scottish football names. Former Scotland goalkeepers George Wood and Rab Douglas came through Forth, while Rangers great Willie Waddell played for Wanderers before his senior career.
THE PORT ARRIVE AS CUP WINNERS 🏆
Port Glasgow Juniors make the trip to Kingshill Park after a memorable weekend for everyone connected with the club.
Last Saturday, the boys lifted the Strathclyde Cup, beating St Patrick’s FP 4–1 in the second leg of the final at Parklea. The officially listed aggregate score was 8–1, completing an emphatic two-leg victory.
It was another special chapter in what has already been an incredible journey for the club over the past few seasons.
Now the celebrations are put to one side as attention turns back to league business and another difficult WOSFL Second Division fixture.
The cup may be safely back at Parklea, but the hunger has to remain exactly the same.
One game at a time.
One team.
One community.
Mon the Port! ⚫⚪🏆
