Today, in our Sunday fixture against Chorley, we were lucky enough to witness two of our juniors, George (15) and Alfie (13) bat in an incredible opening partnership! The two put on a mighty 156 together, the highest of any partnership at the club this season! George ended the day on 55, whilst Alfie managed to score 72, the first senior half centuries for each of them. A massive well done for both of them today, the future of GCC looks bright! ππππ

Billy's Big Bash 2026 - everything you need to know ππ
There's just two weeks to go until our charity day returns on The Green on Sunday 16 August
What is it?
A day of fun, cricket and laughter
Who was Billy?
Chris 'Billy' Billington was our groundsman and sadly passed away after a battle with cancer. The day is in memory of him and to celebrate the cricket club, and ground, he loved so much.
Where is it held?
On Grimsargh Green, at the cricket club (Whittingham Lane, Grimsargh, Preston, Lancashire, PR2 5LH)
Who can attend?
Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be connected to the cricket club or even like cricket, it's just a fun day.
What time does it start and end?
We get going at 10am and it usually finishes around 6pm
When is it?
Sunday 16 August 2026
Is there food?
Yes, we have a BBQ going for breakfast sandwiches and then it runs throughout lunchtime and into the afternoon. There's also a cake stall.
Drinks?
Yes, we serve refreshments.
What else is happening?
We have a raffle with a bumper set of prizes and other stalls too.
What's the cricket?
We have a kids game to start the day, a ladies game at lunchtime and new for this year an eight-a-side four team mini tournament for the men's game. Timings (subject to change on the day as always!) of 10am for the kids game, 12pm for the ladies game and 2pm for the men's tournament.
Can I bring a chair?
Yep
Can I pay by card?
Yes
Are there toilets?
Yep
Is there parking?
There is a car park at Grimsargh Green and some parking on the field by the club. Please park responsibly.
Where does the money go?
All proceeds from the event go to St Catherine's Hospice and supporting what we do as a cricket club
What's the weather looking like?
TBC. As with all cricket lovers, our most used apps are Play Cricket closely followed by the Met Office forecast. So keep an eye on it closer to the day to see what the Grimsargh microclimate is doing. But there will be play, come rain or shine!
The latest GCC lineups for this weekend, with two away trips to Chorley for the Firsts and Sundays, and a game at the green against Tarleton for the Seconds! πππ
Congratulations to this week's players of the match, Arjun and Andy, both displaying fantastic all-round performances in each of their games! πππ
