β° 12:30pm Kick-off
We made the short trip to Marr College to face Troon in a fixture that has often produced closely contested encounters between the two sides. With victory enough to send us to the top of the league, we arrived focused, determined and ready to make our intentions clear from the first whistle.
We started brightly, putting Troon under sustained pressure and creating several opportunities from distance. Our boys looked sharp, moved the ball confidently and showed some excellent teamwork as we looked to take control of the match.

The breakthrough arrived after some excellent football involving Sean, Alex and Olly. The move eventually found Aidan around 25 yards from goal, and what followed was a moment of real quality! Dropping his shoulder and shifting the ball onto his favoured side, Aidan unleashed a superb strike high into the net to give us a deserved lead.
β½οΈ 29β | Troon 0β2 Glenburn
We continued to dominate possession, with Sean delivering a series of dangerous corners into the Troon penalty area. One excellent delivery caused problems for the home goalkeeper, and Alex was quickest to react, anticipating the loose ball and forcing it over the line to double our advantage.
β½οΈ 35β | Troon 0β3 Glenburn
As half-time approached, we stepped things up another gear. Following a Troon clearance, Mason reacted brilliantly to win possession before producing a perfectly directed header between the defenders and into Harryβs path. Harry stretched to guide the ball beyond the goalkeeper and make it three!
β½οΈ 37β | Troon 0β4 Glenburn
Just two minutes later, we struck again! A fantastic long pass from Mason picked out Sean, who skipped past the Troon right-back before calmly squaring the ball for Declan to finish.
Four goals to the good at the break, and a thoroughly deserved lead following an excellent first-half performance.
HALF-TIME: TROON 0β4 GLENBURN
Troon came out for the second half with renewed determination, putting us under pressure in the opening stages. However, our boys stood firm, weathered the early pressure and soon found their attacking rhythm again.
β½οΈ 49β | Troon 0β5 Glenburn
Aidan turned provider with a brilliant cross-field pass to pick out Declan, who made no mistake with the finish to grab his second of the afternoon!
β½οΈ 55β | Troon 0β6 Glenburn
Another excellent piece of teamwork saw us regain possession immediately following a Troon clearance. Ryan showed tremendous composure, resisting the temptation to rush an effort on goal. Instead, he lifted his head, picked out Declan, who calmly slotted home to complete his well-deserved hat-trick! π©β½οΈ
β½οΈ 56β | Troon 1β6 Glenburn
Troon pulled a goal back after we briefly lost our defensive shape, but the response from our boys was immediate.
β½οΈ Troon 1β7 Glenburn
Mason drove forward with real purpose before threading a superb pass through to Declan. Rather than going for goal himself, Declan unselfishly squared the ball to Ryan, who finished well to restore our six-goal advantage.
β½οΈ Troon 1β8 Glenburn
Two minutes later, Ryan and Alex combined brilliantly down the flank, with Alex delivering a dangerous cross into the penalty area. Declanβs initial effort was well saved, but Harry reacted quickest to the rebound and made no mistake in grabbing his second of the afternoon!
To their credit, Troon never gave up and continued to battle until the final whistle. Their determination was rewarded with two further goals in the closing stages as we switched off defensively.
Although disappointed with the manner in which we conceded those late goals, there could be no taking away from what had been another excellent attacking display from our boys.
FULL-TIME: TROON 3β8 GLENBURN π‘π΅
π A special mention must go to Troon for their attitude, spirit and determination throughout the match. Despite the scoreline, they kept going right until the final whistle, and we wish them all the very best for the remainder of the season.
For us, it was another fantastic team performance, full of quality football, excellent passing, clever movement and some outstanding individual contributions.
Every player played their part, and the effort and application from our boys once again gave us as coaches and parents plenty to be proud of.
Five league games. Five wins. Top of the table! πππ
Plenty of football still to be played, but weβre extremely proud of the start weβve made to the season. The hard work continues! πͺ
