But this was always a team of four. After the heartbreak of cross country, Gemma Stevens continued to play her part, supporting the team and feeding intelligence back to Chris Bartle from the ground.

And then there’s the team behind the team. The grooms and owners, rightly recognised alongside the riders, and the unsung heroes of the British Equestrian support team, whose expertise and dedication underpin performances like these.

After yesterday's incredible cross country, we have three British combinations right at the sharp end of the individual competition as we head into the final showjumping phase.

What a Cross Country Day for Great Britain in Aachen.

There was heartbreak early on for Gemma Stevens and Flash Cooley, whose elimination meant there was suddenly no discard score for the British team.

The pressure was well and truly ON.

But Tom McEwen and JL Dublin delivered a fabulous clear with just 2 time penalties.

Then Laura Collett and London 52 showed exactly why they are one of the very best partnerships in the sport, clear with just 0.8 time penalties.

And finally Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo...

Clear. Inside the time. 🔥

Britain hold onto the team gold medal position heading into tomorrow's showjumping, with Ros sitting second individually and Laura third.

And let's not forget Caroline Harris and D.Day, competing as individuals and producing a superb clear with just 1.2 time penalties.

Now, somehow, we need to switch disciplines and get ready for the Dressage Freestyle tonight. ✨

The British combinations have put themselves in a fabulous position after two days of dressage, but today is where this championship takes a very different turn.

Aachen. World Championships. Cross country.

It doesn't get much bigger than this. 👀

Another nail-biting day in Aachen and another set of sublime dressage tests from the British combinations.

Laura Collett and London 52 produced a beautiful test to sit right up at the sharp end of the individual standings, with Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo also firmly in the mix.

Add in yesterday's brilliant performances from Tom McEwen and JL Dublin and Gemma Stevens and Flash Cooley, and Great Britain head into Cross Country Day in a fantastic position in the team competition. 🇬🇧

And let's not forget Caroline Harris and D-Day, competing as individuals and pulling out all the stops on the World Championship stage.

What a day in the Grand Prix Special at Aachen.

First Becky Moody and Jagerbomb went to the top of the leaderboard with a fabulous 77.660%.

Then came The Master. Carl Hester and Fame produced another beautiful test to take over the lead on 78.298%.

For so much of the day, two British combinations were sitting right up there. Then came those final few riders and the atmosphere went to another level...

Lottie Fry and Glamourdale. 82.295%. WORLD CHAMPIONS. 🥇🌍

A phenomenal performance to defend the Grand Prix Special World Championship title they won four years ago in Herning.

Lottie first. Carl sixth. Becky seventh.

Three British combinations inside the top seven at a World Championship. Just let that sink in. 🇬🇧

And they're not finished yet.

All three go forward to tomorrow night's Freestyle, where another individual World Championship title is waiting.
