Reading university amateur boxing club 2021/2022
Hi all,

I hope you are all well. Just writing today to let you know about the following year. As myself and other 3rd year members and more move on, the club needs to elect a new committee for next year.

To keep the club running we need to fill 4 positions: president, secretary, welfare rep, and treasurer.

If you would like to apply and put yourself forward for the role please do so on the link at the bottom here. If nobody applies then unfortunately the club will have to disband, which would be a huge shame. So if you’re interested in Boxing and have any experience and feel up to the role please put yourself forward.

I urge you to make a manifesto quickly about why you are the best fit for the role as the deadline is this Sunday 25th at midnight. So please get to applying

Then voting also has a deadline of 5th May at midnight.

To everyone not wanting to be apart of the committee but still interested please do vote for candidates you feel are best suited, as to continue we need 25% of members to vote.

It’s been a pleasure to be apart of this committee even if this year was cut ever so short. Thankyou to everyone who joined and came to sessions. I hope that you’ll do the same next year and get some normality back into the sessions.

Tom

Hi All,

For the training sessions this Sunday (1st Nov), please indicate which slot you want to attend by liking the comments on this post. As usual, we're capped at 15 per session so if the slot looks full, don't book in for that slot.

Cheers and hope to see you there!
Hi all,

Was great to see everyone at the taster sessions on Sunday.

This Sunday 25th October will be our first full training session back. If you would like to join us,

- Firstly, you have to pay the membership for the society on the RUSU website.

- Secondly, you have to like a given time slot in the comment section that suits you. Again similar to last week we only have 15 slots per session. So if there are 15 likes on a time slot. Please don't like it as you will not be able to come.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible :)

Tom
Anyone that would like to come to a taster session on Sunday 18th October (New and returning boxers) please choose one of the following times that suits you best.

We can only hold 15 boxers in sportspark so if there is 15 signed up at a certain time, please do not choose it as you will be turned away.

In the session for the new boxers who wish to attend, we will be teaching the basic techniques involved and getting the heart rate going with a circuit towards the end.

For returning boxers we will be working on what we have already learned last year, trying to improve and also partaking in circuits.

If you would like to come to the taster session please choose your time below in the comments, we can’t prevent anyone choosing a time that has already 15 people, so please don’t do choose it, as it will mean someone on the day will lose out.

It is at sportspark located at the front of the uni, and for this session there is a potential fee of £2 (for the alone session). However if you were definitely going to join then it will be £6 for the rest of the year. (The fee is specifically from sportspark and nothing to do with our membership pricing).

It wont allow me to post a poll, so in the comments i have posted the time slots. Please like which time slot you would like to attend.

Tom
Hi All, we need to gauge numbers for putting on some form of in-person taster sessions, can you give this post a like if you'd attend a taster session in the coming weeks? This will help us divide the session appropriately what with the caps on numbers of attendees per class 👍

We’ve already made fantastic progress on the club goals we’ve set out for this year - pursue competitive opportunities, more girl participation and a more social atmosphere.

First and foremost, I’m looking to help as many people as possible during training. I want to ensure everyone is constantly learning and satisfied with the training sessions. On a more personal level, I am also going to compete at the BUCs and/or varsity next year!
