In Memory of Clive Allen – The Morris Federation “I announced Clive’s death on Facebook and set up a ‘much loved’ webpage. Clive was gentle by nature, had a sunny disposition, cheeky grin and his smile would light up any room. Clive’s death left a void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
A great way to celebrate May Day!
Wonderful news ... and we'll be there.
We are delighted to announce that Yattendon & Frilsham Fete will, this year take place on Saturday 4th June. Please save the date, we are super excited to welcome you all back.
Subject to any changes to COVID-19 regulations in England, the Calleva Arms is looking forward to welcoming us on New Year's day.

RIP Ewart Hemmings 1930-2021. President of Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers, his father Charles was a dancer in the 1930s team and his grandfather Henry Hemmings was Mayor of Ock Street 1937-45. His uncle Percy Hemmings was bagman / secretary of the morris team 1936-49, and the main organiser of the revival of the morris dancers. For many years Ewart was a town and district councillor, was town mayor 1978-79, and was awarded the Freedom of Abingdon in 1999. He was often a calming influence on the morris team and will be very much missed.
A bit of foolish reminiscence about all the places in Kennetshire we've been unable to dance in for what seems an age since the beginning of The Great Embuggerance - a guide to Kennetshire.
A tough decision, but there will be NO KENNET KAROLS evening this year to avoid the possibility of anyone missing their family Christmas by catching COVID. We trust you understand.
The good news is that the traditional New Year's Day at the Calleva Arms will go ahead and we hope to see you there

This weekend we would normally be enjoying the Rushcart weekend basking in the Saddleworth Sunshine. This was our first official visit in 1996 - and we've come back nearly every year despite it! Thanks to Saddleworth Rushcart Lads for wonderful memories, even though this year will be memorable for all the wrong reasons.
We'll be seeing the lad off today. You can follow it online, add your memories and photos, and donate if you wish.

The Kennet Morris Men are based in the Reading area, although you can see us performing throughout Berkshire and South Oxfordshire - and even Hampshire. This season we will be performing dances in the distinctive styles that developed in the Cotswold villages of Adderbury, Bucknell, Ducklington, Fieldtown, Hinton in the Hedges, Oddington and Sherborne, and farther afield from the City of Lichfield and Upton upon Severn.
