We have 4 of our Boccia players currently competing at the SOGB National Summer Games in Birmingham. Yesterday saw the conclusion of the singles competition and WOW didn’t our small but mighty group do amazingly- 3 silvers 🥈and 1 bronze 🥉 For all four athletes to place in their divisions on the national stage with such a high standard of competition is testament to their hard work and resilience; not to let a bad shot or result that doesn’t go their way, affect the rest of their day. The whole team supporting the athletes are incredibly proud of their achievement!
Today concludes the pairs competition with some challenging games to end the series. Fingers crossed for a high energy end to the games! 🔴🔵⚪️

On Saturday 23rd May, we hosted a Northern Regional Boccia Competition at Redcar Leisure Centre. It was great to have athletes join us from South Yorkshire, Scotland, Sunderland, Ryedale, Hambleton and Teesdale as well as lots of our local athletes. It was a great day of competition with lots of smiles, sportsmanship and for some, their first experience of a boccia competition. At lunchtime, we had a £10 challenge with our very own Peter K, going home £10 richer for landing his boccia ball, right on the £10 note in one attempt! We'd like to thank Redcar Leisure Centre for hosting us in their brilliant facilities and extend an even bigger thank you to all of our volunteers who gave up their time to support the event. We were joined by Physiotherapy Masters Students from Teesside University who kindly volunteered their time to help too and experienced boccia for the first time as a brilliantly inclusive sport. Hi everyone. Hope your all well!!!

As some of you know sally & her 2yr old son we’re suppose to be heading to London in may in do the Westminster mile in a bid to raise money for our region.
Due to the Coronavirus we are now not going but we are going to take part in the 2.6 challenge,

I will put the link up later today at some point & if you can donate towards northern region special Olympics that would be amazing.
We’re missing out on so much fundraising so anything helps.

Congratulations to all athletes involved this weekend, you were all fantastic! Thanks as always to volunteers and supporters who give up their time to make these weekends happen. It won’t be long now until we get to do it all again at our competition in June!

After a good fill at Breakfast (can’t beat a Premier Inn buffet!), we’re here and games are underway. It’s a team competition today and we’ve got 4 teams battling it out. GO Team Skelton/Cleveland!!
