I'm going to follow the lead of Canolfan Pentre and cancel tomorrow evening's class.

Other classes in Ynys y Cwtsh - Champions for Ynyshir and Cwmparc Community Centre still going ahead, but if its too hot for you, I totally understand if you don't come x

🌞 We’ve taken the difficult decision to close for the next two days, temperatures in our centre, especially in the kitchen area can become extremely hot, our staff and volunteer wellbeing, along with our users must be priority.

Do you feel that you can't come to yoga classes because of health issues?

I completed my initial Yoga teacher training 12 years ago, and after a few years break, I felt I needed to retrain. I've done lots of training wtih YogaRenew, Yoga Medicine by Tiffany Cruikshank, Melanie Cooper Yoga, Jennie Wadsten Sharma and Victoria Thomas Yoga

I've learned lots from all these teachers, but I think my favourite learning, overall, is how to use props.

I never used props before, and now I love how much they allow me to make my classes accessible to people who wouldn't be able to manage much at all.

Today, for example, I got to use props to really open possibilities. One of my regular ladies, who lives alone and worries about what might happen if she falls, wanted to start being able to get on the floor. We'd tried it once, with her directly on the floor, and she found it very difficult.

I spoke with Victoria Thomas on Friday about it, and she recommended that we persist with the effort, but use props to bring the floor closer to her.

We tried it today and it was a great success!

It's such a great joy to be able to provide classes that help people so much. I sometimes wonder if I should call them 'mobility classes' rather than Yoga, as that is the core benefit is is bringing to most of my students, allowing them to stay mobile, increase their range of motion, and keep them healthy as they age.

Whatever your physical condition, I can find ways to accommodate you so that you are able to take part in the class.

I have classes this week at Ynys y Cwtsh - Champions for Ynyshir, Canolfan Pentre and Canolfan Pentre. If you'd like to come and have any health conditions that might make you wonder if you can take part, drop me a message and we can work out a plan!

I had a lovely meeting at Cambrian Lakeside Cafe Bar with Natasha and Hayley from The Good Stuff earlier today, planning the SOLD OUT Women in the Wild - Day Escape taking place next weekend.

We've checked the room (it's lovely) and the outdoor area (it's so lovely!). We've planned the logistics of the day and are really looking forward to welcoming you a week tomorrow.

If you've booked a place, please look out for an email from me later today. It will contain important information as well as some forms for you to fill in. It will be VERY important you respond ASAP so the day can run smoothly, and meet your needs.
