Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good weekend.
I'm doing some training in the week, learning about the Ask and Act program to support people experiencing domestic abuse, so a couple of my classes won't be running..
Tuesday in Ynys y Cwtsh - Champions for Ynyshir will return a week Tuesday. I will be coming over tomorrow afternoon to meet the Ladies' Coffee Club though!
And Wednesday's 'Chair and Chat' will be back a week Wednesday. All other classes are running as normal - Monday morning at Treherbert Old Age Hall, Monday evening at Oak Tree Hall, and Tuesday afternoon at Blaencwm Community Centre.
Monday evening we will be exploring Yin as well as our usual more Yang practices. I hope to see you there!

Tonight's class in Oaktree Hall in Treorchy became a spur of the moment Yin Yoga class. Laura, one of my regular students, had experienced Yin for the first time at the Warrior Woman Yoga Day Retreat at the weekend, and was talking about how much she enjoyed it, so we decided to spend the whole class exploring Yin poses.
Yin yoga is very different to the more dynamic style of Yoga I usually teach. Yin is all about allowing and accepting, rather than forcing. It involves long holds, not pushing to the furthest your body can go, but to the point when you feel sensation. It's a grounding, relaxing practice that teaches your mind and body to tolerate stillness and silence.
Next week's class in Oak Tree hall is going to be a special one, as we are going to explore Yin and Yang....with some dynamic Yang practices at the start of the class, and Yin for the second half.
Props are provided, but you might want to bring your own cushions and a blanket. I'd love to teach you some Yin yoga, why not come and give it a try, Monday evening, 7-8.30pm, Oak Tree Hall, Treorchy.

I've been having a lot of conversations lately with people who are really noticing the changes that coming to my classes is bringing to them.
Complete beginners are feeling confident about poses they were really nervous about just a few weeks ago. Friends and family noticing visible changes. Reduced pain, new friends, a general sense of feeling lighter and more relaxed, being better able to manage the difficult moments in life.
And so much more.
Every time someone notices how Yoga is helping them, boosting their sense of wellbeing in some way, my yoga teacher heart sings.
I don't teach so that people can do fancy gymnastic postures. Heck, I can't even do half of those anymore, or at least, it's been a long time since I tried, and I don't see any need to rush into it.
I teach so that the woman in the stressful job can give herself some time to relax and let go of the stresses of the 9-5.
I teach so that the busy parent can find a bit of time where no one is asking anything of them, and their body belongs to them again.
I teach so that Nana can still reach for the biscuits, and can still get down on the floor to play with the grandkids (and be able to get up again!)
I teach so that my students stay healthy, strong and mobile, and able to move safely through the world.
I don't mind if you can't touch your toes. But I do care if you can get yourself back up if you fall.
Whatever your age, Yoga can support your wellbeing. All my classes are very beginner friendly. You can practice on the mat or the floor, or a combination of both, and I can work with you to make sure that all the practices we do are accessible to your body.
Drop me a message if you have any questions, and I hope to see you at a class sometime soon!
love, Esther

Well, the Warrior Woman Yoga Day Retreat was a day to treasure and to remember.
Six women gathered in Cambrian Village Trust ready for a day of connection, self care and empowering practices.
Before the day had even properly started, the conversations were flowing, and new friendships were being formed.
We practiced, breathed, walked, talked, relaxed, meditated and ate together. Some of us may have even dozed off during the final Yoga nidra practice!
Thank you ladies for such a wonderful day, for trusting me with your self care for the day, and for being so open to everything I offered.
And thanks everyone for helping me to clean up afterwards, I appreciate you all so much!
Not many photos as I couldn't stop mid class to take a photo of everyone, but as we discussed, we gained more from being in the moment than we would from having photos!
Thank you too for those of you who bought copies of my book, and let me have the 'I'm a real author' book signing moment!
I'm now going to spend the rest of my evening in bed resting my warrior self, must practice what I preach after all, and my body is most insistent that it needs rest!
See you all again soon I hope.
Love, Esther

What Saturday will actually look like... The Warrior Woman Yoga Day Retreat from start to finish.
You'll arrive at 10am to a warm welcome and a chance to settle in before we open the day together as a group, setting an intention for what you need.
From 10.30 we move into yoga built for strength, working the bones, muscles and pelvic floor.
After a refreshments break, we shift into breath and meditation, giving your nervous system real tools to calm itself.
Then a shared vegan lunch, made with care, before the afternoon slows right down into deep, guided relaxation.
We close the day together in circle, before you head home around 4.15, hopefully feeling steadier than when you arrived.
A full day, held for you, from start to finish.
Ticket sales close at 8pm on Friday 14th August. Don't miss out, book your place now!
