Are you a proactive or reactive Parent?

I recently experienced this with my Toddler and it was sooo incredibly stressful for the both of us. Today after a week off she was a happy little girl going in but for some it can be a challenge following each term break.

Check out this YouTube video from our Champs Academy Founder, Annette

Kids and conflict?

Kids / Teens dealing with conflict:

How does your Child/Teen deal with conflict?

Do you speak to your teen about how to deal with negative encounters, or is this something you struggle with?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My daughter is a young teen and experiences a fair amount of conflict (mostly girls banter at each other, often not too positive) the usual teen conflict throughout a school day, and at home a different kind of conflict with her younger siblings.

It is interesting to discuss and observe how she reacts differently in both situation. In school she cam hold her ground if necessary and can let it go, at home she gets drawn into conflict with a toddler - yes, i'm still trying to figure this out :)

As toddlers/young children they tend to automatically retaliate. As teens it gets more complicated...

Conflict is difficult to deal with, and it is especially tough in the adolescent years. Our children/teens are already going through many changes in their body and mind.

Conflict is a great way to learn about others. Your teen can learn about what kinds of friends, family and other individuals are in their lives based on how conflicts arise and play out. Teach your teen to decipher whether the other party is still supportive during conflict, or whether they are using it as an opportunity to push your teen down. Is the other party fair and honest, or angry and deceitful? Conflict reveals a lot

[05/09/18]   With the Summer School holidays almost upon us :

Is your child due to join one of the new 'Superschools' this September (2018) and do you feel they are prepared to cope with the change ?

This is a big big change and adjustment for many children (and parents and teachers).

There has been a build up to this year, a lot of questions, concerns, anxious parents, anxious teachers ...

Keen to get your insights, how you and your child are feeling about it. What's your thoughts?

Feel free to comment below.

[02/22/18]   Debate on 'Good Morning Britain' today about teaching/talking to children about body image, body confidence and boundaries.

How do/have you discuss/demonstrate this topic to your children in your household? or you don't discuss it? :)

There is a worrying increase in the amount of children with negative body image issues. Pressure from the media and peers to look a certain way (despite most print images being significantly altered) is creating anxiety and low self-esteem in young people that puts them on the slippery slope to eating disorders, mental health issues and an unhealthy view of themselves.

1 in 3 teenagers dissatisfied or feeling depressed about their image…

As leaders in kids confidence and empowerment coaching, C.H.A.M.P.S Academy provides an interactive and engaging format that encourages pupils to adopt a healthier attitude towards their body image.

To discuss any concerns and how we can help contact me Michelle Letherby on 07557507662 or email [email protected]

[02/01/18]   Should there be a HOMEWORK BAN?

There was a debate on The Wright Show today about schools banning homework in both primary and secondary schools.

Homework can teach children responsibility, discipline, work ethic, commitment, responsibility, develop self sufficiency etc.
