TOUGH MUTTER RACE INFO
Dear Runners & Dogs,
We hope you are well and looking forward to the Tough Mutter on Sunday 25th October 2026. This information tells you everything you need to know for the event day so please read it carefully.
Location
The event takes place at
Adrenalin North Yorkshire Ltd
Blacks Plantation
Richmond
North Yorkshire
DL10 5EZ
We are at Richmond on Whashton Road/Spring Lane. Your satnav should take to you the correct location using the postcode. Look out for the 'Adrenaline' sign. Please take care not to drive down farm tracks. If there is no Adrenaline sign on the entrance, you have taken a wrong turn. If you are struggling to locate us on the day, please call 07967375924.
Car parking at the end of the lane and free of charge. There will be plenty of field parking for everyone. On muddy days be prepared for your car to get a little mucky.
Timings
Due to the nature of this event we will set participants off in waves. Please note your wave time for registration and race start below. You are of course welcome to register earlier than your start time and take time to grab a coffee and cake (details below) and warm up ahead of your start time. Please do not register any later than your start time.
General registration opens at 9am
You are in Wave 1
Registration opens: 9:10am
Race starts: 9:30am
If you have pre-ordered a t-shirt, you will be given it at registration. We will also have a small selection of Tough Mutter T-Shirts to buy, on a first come first served basis. They are £18 each and can be purchased with cash or by bank transfer.
A briefing will be provided at the start of each wave.
What to wear
This is a muddy obstacle course race so you will get dirty. We suggest you wear old clothes/trainers that you do not mind getting trashed. You will also get very wet, so quick-drying clothes are recommended.
We also recommend you bring a warm change of clothes for after the event as you can get cold very quickly once you stop moving. Changing rooms are available on site.
Your dog
If you are racing with a dog, they must be on a lead at all times. We recommend you have them on a secure line (i.e. not an extension lead) and ideally wearing a harness rather than a collar as this is more comfortable as they run.
They (and your car) may also appreciate a towel to dry off at the end.
The course
The course is a 5km course so anyone taking part in the 10km will do 2 x laps. It will be clearly waymarked. You can run or walk between obstacles.
Some obstacles will be suitable for both you and your dog, and some will be suitable for humans only. Each obstacle will be marked to indicate which. There will be a place to tie up your dog if they can't/won't do the obstacle, so that you are free to do the obstacle yourself. Don't forget to collect your dog once you have finished the obstacle...
Take care to follow the marshal's instructions and do each obstacle at your own risk. They can be very physically demanding. You don't have to be a hero and take part in every obstacle. We just want you to have fun so if it's not for you, there is no judgement. Make a decision that is right for you (and your dog).
Remember to smile and enjoy the experience - this isn't a competition and there are no timing pressures.
We will be taking photos and videos throughout the day, which will be posted on the Adrenaline page after the event so you have lots of hilarious memories to look back on.
At the finish
At the finish line you will be presented with a custom made medal and given many kudos.
You are welcome to hang around to watch the other competitors and buy hot drink/cake to celebrate your achievements.
The cake stall is being provided by our Saving Yorkshire's Dogs baker and a delicious range of homemade cakes will be available to purchase. Please bring cash to buy a cake.
We are looking forward to seeing you on the day. If you have any questions please email us at [email protected]
With thanks from the Tough Mutter team.
