Academy win again…

Academy vs Askrigg

The lads faced skrigg on Friday night under the lights. The group chat was buzzing all day for a Friday night lights and we certainly delivered!

Bit of a different match report as we can’t quite remember what happened. We kept the ball really well first half Jude and Spen looking very good out on the flanks. Matty Callendar outside of the boot was sharp.

Second half, everyone got plenty of minutes in the legs. First 15 minutes we started well then went to absolute pony. Key points, Dog glancing a header over Bunta to give away the clean sheet, some 16 year old farmer from up dale doing some taekwondo on Wardy and getting sent off. FT 7-1 acad.

MOM - Spenna - Superb hat trick

DOD - Dog - Own goal

The lads went hell for leather after going second in the table for a good 12 hours.
4 wins in a row Baby. We face top of the table Hawes next Saturday👀

Match report for academy’s 1-0 away win against great Ayton reserves 💙

Acad vs Great Ayton Reserves

Acad headed over to Ayton today looking to make it 3 wins on the spin. Today’s opponents cover themselves in glory on the old TikTok and post match claims were something along the lines of “dusting Richmond off”.

This certainly got our lads fired up! But to be honest the game wasn’t very pretty we never really got going. Plenty of dubious decisions went both ways early doors. Not many chances came for either side. 25 minutes in and a ball in from Dunny found dog who took it round a defender or 2 and smashed home to make it 1-0.

Nothing much more until just before half time Eddy Player made a great last man tackle which the ref deemed a free kick but just a yellow. HT 1-0 acad.

The second half was garbage, ref was dire red card for both teams for some handbags. Dog did a job at centre half for Bondy🔴, Jim, Felix, Eddy, Zac and Matty Cal did a sterling job keeping great Ayton at bay alongside super Bunts who put his wrongs from last week right this week! A goal line clearance from Jim kept it at 1-0. Last minute of the game dove through 1-1 with there keeper and forgets the ball! Full time 1-0 ACAD BOOM!

Three on the spin baby. Great Ayton certainly did no dusting. Acad move up to third and fully deserved after another workmanlike performance. All the best to the Great Ayton who were great hosts n decent lads. All Bark zero bite mind.

We look to make it 4 in a row v Skrigg on Friday night.

Academy match report at home to Carperby. Superb again from the lads!

Acad vs Carperby Rovers

Acad hosted the Carp this weekend on a wind affected Saturday afternoon! We held Carp to three 1-1 draws last year so we were looking for our first win against today’s opponents!

Acad started brightly with the wind behind us, 7 minutes in a Bunta goal kick flew over the back line leaving Spenna free to square into Jude who finished calmly. 1-0 Acad!

Not much in the first half for either side until just on the stroke of half time a weak carperby effort found its way through our Super Gk Bunta. An absolute clanger from the lad. HT 1-1.

Again we started brightly, the ball fell to Dunny who knocked dove through whose shot was rebounded straight into Spens path who tapped home to make it 2-1 to the acad.

35 minutes of absolute graft and resilience from the lads defending with hearts on the line, Bunta, Jim, Bondy, Fin, Felix clearing anything and everything! So resolute and fully deserving of the final score being a 2-1 win.

A win that’s been coming for a while against the old Cheese league big dogs! A trip to Great Ayton for the lads next week! UTA.

MOTM- Jim and Bondy - you cannot get past these lads. Unbelievable again!

Really late match result post. Academy came out 4-0 winners last Saturday against Nunthorpe. A much needed win 🔵

Goals came from young Jude Bartley, James Connelly, Oliver Wright & Jim Bowler-Jones. ⚽️

The lads fought hard and dominated the game from start to finish. We didn’t give Nunthorpe a sniff! First clean sheet of the season for the lads at the back as well 👏

Man of the match went to Jude Bartley who is sponsored by Perfect Storm Inc. A great young players who topped his performance off with a well worked goal. 💙

Dick of the Day went to Fin Tulip who is sponsored by Sdr Building & Joinery. One word GREEDY

The lads face Carperby tomorrow at home in the league. We are on the Richmond School bottom pitch. Any support is much appreciated 💙

Man of the match from Saturdays fixture was once again Zac Reeve. Another outstanding performance from the youngster. We really missed him last week. Zac is still awaiting sponsorship for the 2026/27 season.

DOD was pretty harshly Will Rutterford. Some great saves in the second half but kicking his first 5 goal kicks out of play cost him!
